Just got an email from my dad thanking him for the £300 I transferred him, he is fine with me paying the other £200 back next payday, so :p

He's gonna be home all day tomorrow working from home. Wil try and stay out of his way, hopefully he can get the wifi to work so I can use the internet, I have to have the ethernet cable plugged in at the moment, or maybe he has a spare ethernet cable so we can both net it up.

Try and keep out of that agency crackheed! Use your contacts to get in direct.

Its a pisstake, is the agency called Angard Staffing? =D Those cunts ARE RM, they set up an "employment agency" (Angard Staffing, same registered company address, lots of shared directors) to allow them to take on temps and casuals at a much lower hourly rate then ours, and no steady place of work, nor regular guaranteed hours....

:(

It's shocking that in 2012 in the UK we don't even have equal working right for all employees because companies can get away with using agencies to side step the law.

Aye, I think that was them. I remember you talking about them before. Fuck that shit.

It's called a 'flexible labour market'. Apparently it helps the country more appealing to foreign investors, who essentially want first-world skilled labour at third-world factory wages (and the accompanying employment rights) if they can get away with it.

A scandal, I agree.

It's not about people having anything 'against' agencies. It's about the inequality of pay and employment rights between agency and non-agency staff.

But out of curiosity, did something bad happen to you when you were shelf-stacking?

I've never stacked shelves or done a job like that, my only experience with agencies is going after skilled jobs...

I've never stacked shelves or done a job like that...

But your reply stated that you'd never had trouble with agencies in jobs that "aren't shelf-stacking".

So if you've never stacked shelves, what was the point in mentioning shelf-stacking?

just to point out that agencies can actually be useful

So what you're really saying is that you're a 'professional' and you use 'shelf stacking' as an umbrella term for all the manual, menial, unglamorous or low-paid jobs which you'd never be caught doing?

I'm not anti agency, but I'm anti companies setting up their own "agency" to allow them to take the piss out of temporary staff in a way they wouldn't get away with on their own unionised workforce.

Apple support are the fucking business. My download of the Mountain Lion update fucked up, I couldn't figure out how to get it to restart the download so went to their website expecting the same nightmare that I had with Microsoft (which still isn't fixed, months later).

Fired in my serial number, out of warranty, gave a reason for not needing to be in warranty as "recently having purchased OSX", gave my phone number & a wee guy phoned me within 2 minutes. Problem solved within another 2 minutes. =D

I'm against any agency that exists in order to get the company off with paying proper wages and giving full rights / benefits whether the company using them started them or not.
