One essential difference between moderating and memberating is that moderating involves having to do stuff as well as decide what to do. This absolutely
does not make staff any better than anybody else in any way - simply means we have to justify whatever decisions we make and make them a reality no matter how tricky it can be to try to avoid stepping on peoples' toes. Can't please all of the people all of the time but can back up any decisions made with all the reasons and factors that went into making any decision and - for better or for worse - most of that stuff is not made public knowledge so can appear to be somewhat arbitrary or biased for those looking in from outside without all the relevant information.
