Evening all, I just got back from Spain, the price of living seems just as expensive as the UK, often more. 1 in 4 is unemployed. Walking round the supermarket you can't help comparing prices but the sun and freshness and quality of food maybe makes it a bit more bearable.

^ I ate squid for the first time but not 400 :)
 
They're not living it up on £400 a month either. Where the fuck do they live? In a cardboard box? Something is supplementing that income, whether they are earning money on the side or someone is giving them free accommodation.

Those pills are getting launched. Fuck knows why that cunt gave me them, it's not like he was asking for any money.

I thought the same about Lisbon. Prices like London, wages, if you have a job, less than half of UK comparable.

Good to be back my Celtic friend :) I'm walking & driving round expecting things to have changed and its only been a week. I let months pass by in a smoke filled haze so why do i think a weeks a big deal? Spades had stuff in the slow cooker longer than I've been away. I see MSBs been banned again :D but the rest of the crew seem present and correct.

I was going to catch up on EADD goings on but realised its a bit like Benders or Coronation St, you can pick up where you left off.

Yeah, they're really hurting and crime is on the increase. My aunt had her purse lifted and the police said its really common as people are increasingly desperate.
 
Sorry bcf, just saw your post, my holiday was lovely ta. Its the first time I've been abroad for years, I'd forgotten what blue sea and warmth was like. Its hard to wake up pissed off when you see this first thing :) and I'm not referring to the topless lovelies..

MM check this bad boy out. This Spanish girl insisted on bringing her kit round and cooking us a paella. The night before there was a long pissed up discussion if it was to be meat or fish, I hate(d) fish but kept quiet as to not be a brat, figured i'd eat what I was given, and when she arrived and started prepping the ingredients my heart was filled with dread. I think there was both squid & octopus in it, you could have probably identified everything but i didn't have a clue. They take their paella very seriously don't they?

I'm thinking about going to Amsterdam for a few days. My step-dad & some of his pals are going via there for a Scotland game. Fuck knows where the Scotland game is, I think it might be in Belgium.

Anyone got any experience of knocking about Amsterdam on your own for a few days? I'm "street-wise" (lol) enough that I would be very unlikely to get hijacked & people trafficked all over the place so I'm not too worried about safety, just whether it would end up boring as fuck, or if it would be easy enough to find a wee team to knock about with, or just plenty of shit to amuse me on my own. Not hookers haha, just drugs & maybe a club.

He's shouting that he's flying out on a Friday morning & back late Wednesday. There's a room booked at The Greenhouse Effect in Amsterdam & there's room available for the extra days if I want to stay there while they're away for a few days at the football (which I would, fuck going to Belgium with the fucking Tartan Army lol). I thought The Greenhouse Effect was a coffee shop? He did say "sounds like your kind of place" so it might well be, but he definitely doesn't smoke dope so I don't know why he'd have booked rooms attached to a weed store lol.

Also, I take it it's still fine for tourists to buy weed?

Aye, same. You still wouldn't catch me eating anything like squid or octopus. They look far too slimy & disgusting. Once you mange to fight the initial "This looks rotten" thing though most stuff like that turns out to be nice. Slimy seafood is where I draw the line though.
 
They're hideous and delicious but stocks are at a low, partly due to little ones like most of that charming family group being taken before they have a chance to breed.

Whoever named them must have seriously hated monks.
 
The greenhouse effect is a nice hotel, I've stayed there. The staff were nice. Shit area though. Amsterdam is just grim. There are nicer cities and towns in holland to go to.
