Well there are as many Roman Catholics as there are Muslims in the world, and the Catholic church has issued statement after statement saying that they find evolution to be true. I think it is a rather Western phenomenon to say you are Christian and not really be Christian, I wouldn't say that Muslims are necessarily more pious for any other reason than the fact their religion demands it of them. I mean, Christianity does not dictate a strict dress code, it doesn't advocate calling your child Jesus, it doesn't dictate every tiny facet of your life right down to how to wipe your arse. So on a fundamental level it will always be the case that the average Muslim will seem far stricter than the average Christian. Either way, worldwide, I don't think there are that many people who identify as Christian who don't go to some length to adhere to their faith. Acceptance of evolution in 'moderate' Islamically dominated countries like Turkey runs at 22%, whereas in Saudi Arabia they aren't allowed to teach evolution any where.

No-one pays attention to what the Catholic church say though. They're that used to going "aye, aye don't wear condoms? Good one, get to fuck" that they probably dismissed that as well "Evolution is real? Pull the other one buddy, next you'll be shouting you don't fuck kids".

I think it still stands that it's an education thing though. In Turkey 22% believe in evolution, the other 78% have probably been taught from an early age that religion is 100% fact & religion says no to evolution. Obviously it is the religion stifling the education though, I think what you've said about the Muslim faith basically being much stricter than Christianity would go some way to explaining why Muslims would be less educated on evolution than Christians - There's probably some countries where they stone you to death for daring to claim that you're descended from primates.

It is best to avoid them altogether. There is absolutely zero help that can be given to a psychopath. In fact, it has been shown that help only makes them worse. I've faced a similar situation and all you can do is cut them out of your life completely. They are a very destructive force.

This is a common misconception about psychopaths. They aren't necessarily violent in any way, they just aren't adversed to using violence if they are violent people (if that makes sense). They aren't all murderers and rapists. 1% of the general population is psychopathic. It just means they lack empathy and conscience. When you lack these fundamental parts of being human all you're left with is the relentless pursuit of your own needs. If Cornish tells this person they are a psychopath, they will just deny it. They won't say "O shit, i'd better kill this guy who has sussed me." They lie like it's telling the truth, it's just that easy for them. And furthermore they couldn't give 2 shits what people think about them, it's just a tool to them. They will even make you feel pity for them because they don't care what you think, just about the effect of what your thinking about them has on them.

And Mugz, there is very little difference between psychopaths and sociopaths. The terms are basically interchangable names for people with ASPD. Neither can get successfully treated because they simply don't care. Not to mention that the disorder stems from having a small amygdila, so there is nothing you can do to fix the fundamental problem with their brain. Treatment just teaches them how normal people think, because they don't fully understand. This helps them to manipulate. In a book I read the recidivism rate among imprisoned psychopaths runs at 60%, once they are treated this number jumps to 80%... One guy at an institution in Canada even managed to convince the psychologist that he was ready to be let free, so he was allowed out for an hour over lunch as a tester reintroduction to the world. In that one hour he managed to rape and stab a 9 year old boy. When asked why he did this, when he had already killed 4 people before he was imprisoned, he just replied "because I forgot what it felt like."

I don't know the fundamental differences between psychopath and sociopath.

All I know is that the person in question has an overwhelming false sense of entitlement.
To call them selfish would be a massive understatement. But I've known them from a very young age and kinda feel sorry for them.

They recently got out of prison and his entire family have abandoned him. And they're really cool, liberal down to earth people.

I guess I'm intrigued as to how his mind works.
I want to ask if he's aware as to how selfish he's been acting. (he tried to sell me a stolen car, but it's like he's genuinely unaware that he did wrong).

He even confided in me that he 'knew he went a bit mental, but everything's ok now' it's hard to fathom if it's actual empathy, or if he merely knows that what he did was wrong - but he still doesn't feel it deep down.

Selling you a stolen car is exactly the sort of thing they would do. They almost fully understand the intricacies of right and wrong, but they don't care. Right to them is their interest. They actually practise looking empathetic, and various other emotions. Underneath there is nothing. Just cut him out of your life.

It's very hard to comprehend because they put so much effort into fitting in and seeming normal. Engratiating themselves with you and your life. Just look at a few of the forums where people are recovering from relationships with psychopaths. Many of the men and women still can't quite believe that the person they were with for so long, who treated them so badly, is a psychopath. They're just that good. I don't really want to go into the psychopath I know on an open forum.

It makes you look a little bit silly when you don't fact check things you post to look clever, Spade. Jesus' birthday is never even stated as 25th December in the bible. It was also Osiris who rose again, rather than Horus. And Osiris rose to rule the undead, rather than on earth. In fact, if you'd have done any research at all you'd know this conspiracy theory (which it is, whether you believe in Jesus or not) has little to no merit and is based on one crack pot scholar's work from almost 100 years ago. He is totally rejected by almost all Egyptologists and historians today, Christian and non-Christian alike.

It was obviously directed at me... I already gave up on any notion that this place was run with HR and not politicing in mind a long time ago. All I want now is to moderated to the same standards everyone else is, instead of being expected to tread the finest of lines while everyone else is free to call each other and me whatever mallicious shit they please. It's not on really. Any way, i've made my point now. I just hope Sam and co can see that even if we don't like each other they aren't really being fair, and to a certain extent they are undermining the HR that should underpin this forum - both by stopping me accessing it, and stopping me answering pertinent questions that people have.

So, with that out of the way... did anyone see the storm this afternoon? It made my house shake.
