Gibberings CLXXXVI - Social Internet Chatting Since 1998

I made a toiletry oversight and forgot to buy shampoo. I have just had to use this and, I must say, it has actually left my hair very soft and not dry at all.

This one was open, I've had two open abdominal surgeries and two keyhole and I can assure you the open ones are much more sore and take longer to recover from!

I'm not too worried about the habit forming properties of codeine because I only use them when I have surgery. Maybe what's left when I'm not in pain will get bundled together into a couple of recreational doses but I'm not really bothered taking them too frequently, I don't like the high that much (reminds me of how I feel in hospital tbh).

Some Jamesy did once show me a map that had Belfast and Dublin darkened out and the rest of the island just labelled as 'culchie'.

He thought he was being smart, then I showed him the Republic's culchie map haha.
 
A Jamesy is a pejorative term for Belfast folks where I'm from.

As you come into our town on the train, there's graffiti saying 'Jamesys beware!'.

It's also our term for the Belfast tash'.

I was based in Ballymena when I worked in the civil service. I hate that town so much. It's so depressing. As soon as the train hit Cullybackey (if I was coming from Derry direction), the sky would just grey and start to pish down. If I was coming from Belfast, it would turn as soon as we left Antrim.

I think they might also use Jamesy in Derry. I assume it comes from the Williamite War in Ireland, with Jamesy referring to the Jacobite supporters.

In that case, it's probably quite a sectarian thing to say :\
 
Yeah, the heroin reputation is usually the first thing that comes to my mind.

They out-culchie me in Ballymena. It does my head in when they say 'til' instead of 'to'.
 
I lived in Belfast for 3 years and I became more culchie. I think I played on it a bit.

It did stop me saying 'man' and start saying 'mate'. I never hear the end of it from my pals.

To be fair Eve, you've done incredibly well not to bite with all the stinging criticism that has been thrown your way of late, so I tip my hat to you.
 
I had a lovely week travelling around Antrim with work a few months back (European Union structural funds shite). Based in Ballycastle we were all over the place, even seen the Game of Thrones set. There were plenty of boring officious meetings inbetween may I add, so it wasn't all fun :p...apart from the couple night lock ins at the local pub. Carnage =D....the people are gorgeous, so friendly.

Loved the place - its special, the coastline is so very beautiful. Will be back for a holiday this year camping I reckon - it was that good!

My folk come from Donegal so I wanae too far from home <3

We all enjoy our Burns Supper last night? That's me got the prodigal son out the house away to his local pals so peace and quiet reigns again :D (aww my oldest recited To a Mouse as well, he won prizes for that at scholl even though he's 27 now!)

Kate - I'm about 15 miles from Ballycastle and it really is beautiful up here on the North Coast. If you really want to go camping, may I recommend you go to the

I live about 15 miles from Ballycastle and it really is beautiful up here along the North Coast.

If you're serious about coming over camping, I would definitely recommend the Rathlin Island festival. You get a short ferry from Ballycastle over to the island. For a week, the population swells from 75 to a few thousand and great craic is had by all! It's in late May and I'm intending to go this year.

Hi Bob, I can beleive it as we visited a few projects and some from the Peace Programme so called success stories that didn't actually sound that great. It saddens me. (I also worked on a few INTERREG programmmes, transnational stuff, but feel heart-lost about the outcomes of all them £mmm's spent). We all have a long way to go. Sectarianism and all sorts of weirdness is still prevalent here too in the west coast too, if you know where to look. But not being allowed to donate blood holy fuck :\ Lets not even go onto abortion...

God it was wonderful country, are you north or south of Ballycastle? I'd love to go to the Rathlin Island Festival, could you please link us to it? / give us info?

Some of my work party came over on the Kintyre Express - mad bastards couldn't get back (any excuse to stay in the pub :D) Cool as a cucumber i headed for the Seacat =D and promptly threw up a lot :\

Hey, I'll maybe invite you for a cuppa in my uber cool fucking canvas tent in rathlin this year... ;)

She has not slighted me or betrayed me so nothing should change. I'm still not fully out to everyone -- I'm taking it very steadily, and coming out in stages. My co-workers are all absolutely sound about it, and most of the friends who know so far have been supportive. The family are going to be the hardest.
