a girly mate put this status on facebook last night, caused a bit of a debate. was interesting to get involved in
"This ALS bullshit is starting to really annoy me now. Let's set the record straight for a second, hopefully people will read this without hating.......
Basically ALS likes to drill holes into the brains of live mice, which I understand might be necessary for some lesser funded charities, however when your President and CEO gets paid $335,000 a year and chief financial officer $202,000 a year (wages top out at about $4,000,000) I sincerely doubt it's necessary anymore.
It also turns out that only 27% of all donations go into research. Which I understand isn't that bad, after all it is still run like a company, you need staff and to raise awareness.
What I can't understand however, is that there are roughly only 30,000 people treated annually, which compared to the amount of people who die due to a lack of fresh water - 6 - 8 million each year, it's a little ironic you are all throwing buckets of ice cold fresh clean water over your heads....."
the last paragraph is easy to understand tbh, boils down to cost, profit, global wealth inequality at the root of it
How many Gibberer's does it take to change a lightbulb?
Haha
