today will continue to be glorious regardless of hurdles or spanners. too many good things going on in my head for it to be fucked with by anything barring the zombie apocalypse, and I've been preparing for that all my life, so even that's something to look forward to.

would be interesting if the people grading the thesis were also on coke... i wonder if they would be more understanding

Even though I'm not sure he graded my thesis whilst on coke, I'm fairly sure my supervisor was using coke all the time. Giving class 3 times a week, being department head for 2 departments in 2 different countries meaning you spend 3 days in NL, 4 days abroad, supervising 3 master students whilst at it and churning out ~10 published articles yearly, being the father of 3 and still having a wife? Impossible sober I'd say.

Morning all! Seriously grey for an August Bank Holiday Monday....

A day for driving out to a nice country pub for lunch I think.

still in bed club checking in :)

Just to clarify, we are not in the same bed.

Is it Bank Holiday - no wonder I'm drunk earlier than normal.

Bank holiday happiness everyone :)

Send me some of that happiness Bear, I am feeling sulky. Or send me some of that alcohol, that would probably help.

Might get the meph out in a minute instead of moping.

I hate my cat ungrateful rescue feline agitater...should have chosen the other one..Gilbert I am sorry it should have been you.

i can def tell this cat is plotting to do something against me. not sure what her plan is though.

last night she was hungry, but her bowl is full. so i move the bowl a little and then she eats it.

Wrote my thesis in 4 days...!

I did my (10000 word) dissertation in 3. While sticking copious amounts of speed up my nose (I'm the poor white boy to your rich girl) and watching the most epic snooker final of all time (Dennis Taylor/Steve Davis). I can't knock it. I correctly predicted the future electoral success of the BNP, at a time when it was fashionable to say fascism was a spent force with the demise of the NF. Considering I was being 'taught' (I use the word loosely) by an expert on international communism who completely failed to see the coming of the fall of the Berlin Wall etc and by a bloke who is STILL recognised as a renowned psephologist who was predicting years of domination by the SDP and I don't think I did too bad.

I spent three years taking acid and still never needed an extension for an essay deadline. Drugs are good m'kay.

Actually, without the drugs I consider that period the worst three years I ever had in education.

Was there a point to this post? Sorry, can't remember.

No at the rescue centre we got it down to two cats one was Gilbert the other was Peony (!)..we chose Peony and immediately renamed it obviously but should have been Gilbert..sigh.

SHM ermmm my thesis makes little sense although my dissertation to this day I am rather proud of.

I did a microdot the night before my Maths GCSE....I have always been terrible at mathematics just have a literal blank out when presented with a stream of numbers, however funnily enough I actually thought I had done quite well, algebra made sense it even seemed to have some meaning and use for everyday life at that time (must have still been off my trolley). I got the worst mark ever in recorded history of my 300 year old school. I thought you got a G or something at least if you could spell your name correctly..ummm

what was you best period in education then?

i consider highschool to be my best really. everything had more or less a point to it (except some math that was a bit too much. seriously).
it all went downhill in the uni, with more stuff to learn and less of waht i was really interested in. plus loads of things that needed taking care of that would be of no use to my future career.... after highschool i stopped learning new and varied things and was made to concentrate on just my field.

which is normal i suppose. but i loathe to talk to uni people that know NOTHING but their field and cant even be arsed to read on the news about anything else.

damn it, got doctor friends who barely know how to use a fucking computer. some still search yahoo to find their email login page.

i got the worst mark in psychiatry ever given by that particular professor. was stone cold sober too. just that it was in a language i had yet to learn at that time, so writing 10+ pages using entry level spanish (could barely ask for directions and a sandwich) was a bit of a strech.

3 months later i did a 8/10 with twice the number of pages and double the curricula ;)

I think my foundation art year was my favourite period...it was at one of THE art schools considered the best at that time...I got to hang out with lots of people with favoured names of Jocasta, Tallulah, and Benedict and Crispin and see a lifestyle and elite cultural class that I wouldn't have believed existed but it was different then. It was the dawn of us all dropping pills together and dancing in fields and forging friendships based on like rather than what you can do for me/get etc.I know it's been said many a time and ages me badly but it really did change things at least temporarily.....in that generation at least????

Psychedelics, well, ketamine mainly, has helped me grok the Fourier transform in a deep way as well as becoming much more intimate with several PDEs that I was heavily involved with at the time, mainly the behaviour of wave equations :)
