Gibberings CLXIV - I don't Have a Clue if These Numerals are Right I'm Still Drunk

You're at it. Surely?

You too?

Madness lol.

I see it as your duty to skive as much as possible. Don't get me wrong, I get my work done, but they seem to think it takes me 8 hours a day when in reality it takes about 2 max. It would be stupid of me to correct them.

I don't understand why you would expect someone to bust their arse for not much better than minimum wage, knowing that anything above and beyond the bare minimum doesn't affect their wages, yet probably does affect some rich fuckers dividends. I'm really quite surprised tbh. Different if we were talking about folk getting paid mega bucks, but I don't think we are.

My employer isn't exactly a profit making corporation right enough, so I guess my excuse is that I'm a lazy bastard

Lol nothing like honesty, eh?!

I'm lying in bed at mo.

Tattoo is hurting n itching. Whatever possessed me to get under my arm done.

Pure stupidism lol.

When I worked in the Local Health Board I really struggled due to my eyesight n nerves. But I tried every day even though I was coming home with headaches, tired out, stressed. I never had time for the internet n the times I did i wouldn't have dared.

People don't realise how lucky they are to have a job n to be confident in it. There are a hell of a lot of people who would love that job, people struggling to put food on the table for big families.

I actually did not have to get that job - but I did because of pride n I tried, got bullied n treated appallingly for being stressed. They'd either pile up the work load or give me nothing for weks on end so I'd sit there losing confidence. So when I see people on here who should be working the job they have and also look at people like MDB - desparately trying to find work while suffering his addiction issues, well it makes my blood boil n annoys me.

Edit - Just saw your reply. Definitely depends on the job. I genuinely thought you were shouting a cunt who works in Tesco shouldn't be skiving. That you found out it abhorrent some poor fucker on 40 quid a day wouldn't be busting their arse. I'm glad that's not the case.

You should know me better than that.

I repeat, I have no work ethic. FFS, I've been on BL thirteen years 24/7 (sort of anyway), it should be obvious. My dad died at 53 from his second heart attack, working his bollocks off in two jobs to pay off the debts accrued from not working for six months due to his first heart attack. I swore that would never be me.

But when I have worked, and believe it or not I did for a while, I've always done my job properly if someone else has been dependent upon it. And in my experience, that puts me in the minority. And it pisses me off, like Evey says, that people can go into work and piss about on BL all day and these people get a scot free (excuse the phrase) ride through life while those who may be on the dole through no fault of their own get hammered constantly by the tabloid press.

Having a job seems the Holy Grail. Actually doing that job doesn't seem to matter.

You're right about the eight hours given to do two hours of work though. It used to amaze me how slow and incompetent some people could be even when they did try and do a job. Consequently I always found myself doing about four times the amount of work than the average braindead sloth.

I think because both of you have done jobs with some degree of social responsibility, like, if I don't put a shift in this cunt has nowhere to stay, or this person won't be looked after etc, you have a different opinion than someone like me who, for example, worked in fucking PC World selling computers to clowns for a few years. I can't imagine you getting motivated to do that somehow ;)

This is actually quite correct though -

Having a job seems the Holy Grail. Actually doing that job doesn't seem to matter.

But when you've spent a few years doing a job that you fucking hate, then finally quit only to find yourself having to get another job that you fucking hate, and I mean hate every single minute of every single day, it can be hard to do much more than turn up for 8 hours a day.

You're right that it's strange how skiving on the dole is seen as the worst but skiving at work is seen as perfectly fine. I think skiving on the dole is fine though, so at least I'm not a hypocrite.

I don't see having a job as a badge of honour like some people do. I see it as showing me up for not being smart enough to have figured out a way not to work!

Hi all.
Totally overdid the booze at the weekend and felt so rough and depressed from it that I opened this set of watercolour paints I'd bought from a carboot sale ages ago and did a shit painting of my cat.

Did feel better for it though.

Wasn't very happy with it though so went back to it yesterday after a day on the cider and made it much more psychedelic. A big improvement.

The chat's been so shite in here recently I could almost be tempted with some gabber. Not quite though.

What do you want to talk about PC? This is gyberring gyberrish thread after all, not exactly the place for too much worthwhile discourse very often. Streams of consciousness or in my case semi conscious streams of utter twaddle all I can usually manage in a public chat room.
Think may people have taken to pms for anything of consequence..fuck -it pm me..I am not suggesting I can offer anything that may interest you or you feel is less 'shite' but offers there..April funny month for me and many I know..brains turned to sludge by the non-month/in-between tedium of something .anything.

I would PM you, but then you'd reply and it would take me 3 months to get back to you like I do with everyone else.

Can we talk about giraffes?

It depends though I had office jobs where I was the only one on amphetamines, we used to have departments and teams, each had weekly and monthly reports and material to produce, the progress would be checked daily, usually I would be done with my duties by lunchtime, while my caffeinated coworkers had to stay overtime to do the same exact thing I had finished in the morning.

Hence the afternoons spent on forums instead of working. Seriously I had some office jobs, where I worked for like 2 hours a day, the rest was chit chat at the coffee machine and playing games on my lapttop.

I actually rather like that, cosmiccars. :)

Yeah, pretty much.. I'm 100% reliable and work evenings/weekends when I need to meet a deadline, so I'm clearly not going to spend time working when nothing particularly needs doing. I'd probably have a different attitude if I worked in the charity/etc sector, though.

I can't believe people are using the internet and bl during their work hours.

You utter bastards. I am disgusted with you skivers

Of course you can always ignore the detail in people's posts and just post some sarcastic shite like the above, missing the point entirely.

Carry on Bob.

PS Cat is a work of genius.

Why would you do more work than you absolutely have to? If you work for fucking HSBC or something?

Anyone who knows who I work for will know I don't have the same excuse. I guess mine is that pretty much everything I do is about 3 pay grades above what I actually get, and my boss knows this, she also knows that I do fuck all most of the day but I guess it's a fair trade off in her eyes.

If I worked for a fucking bank or something, as I have in the past, I would have no issue with ripping it as much as humanly possible and then some. (Edit - I certainly wouldn't have spent the past week or so teaching myself visual basic so I could do my job better)

100% agree with this! I do the bare minimum needed so I won't get taken into a disciplinary, anymore and they can fuck off. They do their utmost to screw me over at every possible opportunity, I'm not gonna bust a gut for them.

I handed in my notice today though to go travelling, I'm hoping to be put on garden leave. A mate of mine was taking the piss after handing in his notice and they told him to stay at home after a week or two.

Take a screenshot of this page and send it to the Daily Mail.

Headline: It looks like jobsworth junkies are infiltrating the private sector to compromise productivity with their drug-influenced idleness: Perhaps a wicked plan to bring this once "GREAT" Nation on its knees?

I remember handing my notice in at HSBC. I'd been led to believe that you weren't allowed anywhere near the phones and were likely to just get sent home to sleep out your notice. The crushing disappointment when they told me you've got 2 weeks notice so get back to work was brutal. I got sent home after another 2 days though, as I was "worse than a man down" haha.

Haha I'm keeping my fingers crossed this happens to me. Same sort of job, on the phones at bt, and the stats are all important for these call centre managers

Muahaha, indeed. Though it's not like I could have actually made the building industry any worse over the past few years..

I handed my notice in and my boss was annoyed I wasn't on 3 months' notice. No chance of me being put on gardening leave.. 8(
