Check out Will Self talking about heroin addiction

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-26025780

In the video down the page. He's actually talking very weirdly for some reason, I can't put my finger on it. I struggled to follow him once Paxman asked about needles.

But LOL at Paxman:

"What's heroin like?"

"...You're asking me personally?"

he allways talks "weirdly" he's got a weird monotone deep drone and tends to be overly intellectual. He kept things down to earth and comprehensible last night though. I guess he has become the establishment / heavyweight figure that can be asked to talk sensibly about heroin now. Russell Brand may be still too a little bit too excitable.

If only there was a Russell Self.

Or would that be an abomination?

Will Self is a tremendous intellect, a brilliant writer, a genius, really, and I don't use that word lightly. There can be no person of greater esteem, or ability to cogently and candidly speak about how it is to be a heroin user. I am glad that he is the person they go to.

There probably is one, they are just not famous yet. :) That person would be very interesting, no doubt.

^ this

Im tempted by a lil bomb of 4-FA. just for the speedy-ness, not the seretoniny. altough that goes against my week day sobriety

I have joined you if you have partaken? Very very strange morning and not in a good way...started the day with a double scotch with ice in a proper 70's type crystal etched glass (I do like the correct glassware for each tipple..tastes better). Dreading my crash tomorrow as more of a drug hobbyist these days these little (read as big fuck off) binges that wouldn't touch the sides with some folk tend to floor me...ahh well you takes yer highs you get yer lows

Nah havent started yet, might in a bit

I saw Will Self on question time a while back, one of the MPs was such a arrogant patronizing dickhead, if i was Will i would have walked out before i had smacked a chair around the cunts head, would have been raging. Will was talking about society and stuff and the majority of the people there were too brain washed or thick to understand what he was on about

Though he did fuck up psychogeography for everybody by attempting to jump on the bandwagon a decade or two late.

And the man should simply not be allowed to write fiction. Otherwise, good guy.

damn this fault light probably means an electronic fault. I hope the AA can fix it under the terms of the membership ive allready paid for otherwise I'll have to take it to the main dealers who are absolute rip off merchants. They charged £100s of pounds to do a diagnosis on a heavy steering fault, the fucking diagnosis was wrong after all that anyway. Said it was a kinked steering column, got that replaced and the fault remained ! :!

ATS eventually found the fault during its last MOT, it was the track rod ends that needed replacing, the steering is great now.

^He sticks to it now, doesn't he? Like, makes a big silly point of walking around LA, which takes hours, seemingly unaware, or at least unwilling to admit, that what worked really well in the context of Parisian situationism in the '60s doesn't translate so well to 21st century California. I remember really enjoying his "Quantity Theory of Insanity", though I was only a kid, and probably didn't get it. Anyway, I can't think of anyone who I would prefer to see being asked those questions.

No, it certainly doesn't translate! Though I suppose that's the point he's making; how such environments are utterly alienating beyond anything the likes of Vaneigem could conceive. All in lovably longwinded and unnecessarily verbose fashion.

A bit dérive-ative? Sure.

Sorry. Going now.

Watched the interview, I think the analogy he seemed to be getting at, that the appropriation of diacetylmorphine from the medical profession to individuals self-administering has parallels with the Protestant Reformation, is an intriguing and poignant and interesting one. As I expected, I wasvery impressed with what he had to say. Will Self fan, over here.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but you don't have to martyr yourself into autoalienation, right? I mean, if you're in Los Angeles, and are unwilling to get in a taxi, aren't you deliberately excluding yourself more than you need to? I'm not as well-read or familiar with these ideas as you, Sam, so please be patient with me if I'm being thick. No, don't go! Please stay!

You aren't being thick at all. Only according to Situationist principles, an environment which necessitates the use (or ideally the ownership) of a motor vehicle in order to get from A to B is ultimately alienating in itself, as an example of how the primacy of industrial / commercial space shapes the day-to-day experience (and therefore the psyche, if you can stomach such a word) of the city dweller.

Ever walked through a city's financial district on a Sunday? Quite an experience.

No, don't go! Please stay!

What, you can forgive a joke like that?

Dan have you tried the 6-APDB? Is 120mgs enough?

I'm not Dan but I have taken 6-APDB several times. It seems to be very much in the YMMV school of drugs. A good dose for one person does nothing for another and will annhilate another. It could be my imagination but there seems to be some variation between batches too which is not great. 120mg seems to me to be a fairly reasonable dose. As I said, for some it could be a bit much, for others it could leave them dissatisfied. It's quite tricky to get a sweetspot dose with and there doesn't seem to be huge agreement on what that sweetspot dose is. Anywhere from 75-150mg as a rough guide. Obviously best to start low and add more if required than go in too high initially. Redosing works early on but it's not one to redose all night if possible. The comedown can get pretty nasty when you get to around 500mg+ total over a session. Imo, ime, ymmv, etc, etc.

That aside, afternoon, all :)

Laaaarvely sunny day out. Off into town to bask in sunny sunshine instead of widdlin' rain for a change. Good-o.
