Gibberings CLVI: Back to the Future

I'm busy working on some testing scenarios and need some feedback.

Would anyone be interested in being able to test substances other than tablets? Is anyone interested in having speed / ket / heroin / rc's bought online / on the street tested for purity and/or contaminants etc?

**Edit for free and by post**

If I were still taking street drugs regularly then yes, I'd love to be able to do that! Especially with speed and heroin.

I imagine cocaine fans would kill for that facility too, even though they'd likely be unhappy with the results they got.

I'm doing great thanks Foolsgold - just managed to have our first first sample sent for testing at Edata. I'm also in discussion with a UK set up and looks like we can secure free testing for pills n powders for the UK. That and I've managed my 28 days of no drinking etc and I'm going on holiday in the morning so having a great day :D.

I was thinking the exact same thing - I'm also wondering if people buying RC's online would like the ability to have the samples tested just to ensure that there has been no fuck up by the vendor? I'm not sure on the mg's needed to carry out the GC/MS test and if people would be willing to send for testing? I have asked the lab if they will display or share the ratios of substances found in sample or percentages of samples which would be better for people checking purity etc.

It's looking really good at the moment just need to iron our a few problems and see if I can avoid people sending in all kinds of random substances - medications etc.

Free testing facility in the UK though - great news if we can get this up and running.

With regard to the RCs, we've had loads of people speculating about batches being adulterated; both the legal compounds and otherwise. Mephedrone and MXE spring to mind immediately, but then you've got all the branded stuff too.

Great news indeed, and good work!

Branded stuff is fine and will be covered - was wondering more about street drugs and RC's and if people would find the option of having them tested useful also. Could eliminate the worry when ordering from a new vendor if you can have a sample tested prior to use. Will not be that useful for the stuff that is active in the .1mg or few mg range as I would guess that your going to need 20 to 50mgs of product for the test to be carried out (going of Edata website).

A moderator in TDS has been helping me see things clearly n I feel happy again for the first time since Friday. He got me to see a few things about addiction n how I'm always judging myself on others' opinions, values etc. i never realised I was doing all this but I was. On Friday I was happy with life n just because one person who will remain nameless ridiculed me for having a codeine addiction, going on suboxone n thinking I had the right to be a member of BL, I got depressed, went back into my old ways of practically gulping two bottles of 11.5% wine n being a damn right bitch to people who were trying to support me.

I love being on suboxone n yesterday I was THAT close to pouring them down the toilet n quitting to PLEASE OTHERS THAT I DON'T KNOW. What the HELL was I thinking??????

I will be honest it wasn't that I couldn't get off codeine (OK I did try several times n it did feel like I was losing a love one, strange yes) but I didn't want to come off it. I was being forced off it. I felt that people were trying to control me n I deeply RESENTED it. A ftiend told me that she had been on suboxone almost five years n she seemed in a good place the time I spoke with her. So I got obsessed with wanting on suboxone, thought it was the solution. A drug taken everyday. No more getting into debt, withdrawals - and I get to talk to a key worker for support so all's good.

I LOVE being on 12 mg of suboxone n f*** what others think. It's the best decision I made for ME! My family had cut me off from the pure stuff (contacted online contacts etc) so I only had access to stuff with paracetamol or ibroprofen n could be dead by now if it wasn't for suboxone. I am going to work really hard on me n NEVER let another person affect my thoughts or decision-making again.

Thanks for all the support you've all given me over the last few days especially Shambles. It means a lot to Me n I won't EVER forget it. I LOVE EADD very much it's an ace place you're all very sweet n I love the laughs n giggles on Giggerings it's nice to joke around n be light instead of all serious all the time n I roar with laughter at some of the posts made here :)

That's great Evey, the mods in TDS really do some great work and it can't be easy at times I imagine.
Hope you have a great day.

Exactly. Who knows more about you and your circumstances than you yourself. It is your opinion of yourself that is the main thing and this shouldnt be unduly influenced by others, who may be talking complete crap, or just be in a bad mood, and it was taken out on you for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, when it possibly/probably had nothing to do with you. Unless anyone has all the facts there's no reason to take a strangers opinion to heart. This is something that has caused me issues over the years, im finally reaching the stage where comments from people that dont know me or my circumstances can be safely disregarded if i choose. Sometimes they are right though, and i have to check myself.

I need another hair cut today, i might be offered a job interview soon. Fucks sake my hair grows far too fast, either that or the months are just flying by far too quickly.

Also, I had some 'MDMA" that only got my high for an hour, after dropping 250mgs. Even then, the high wasn't quite there. I dropped another 250mgs and I swear I was high for 25 minutes max before coming down. I looked th the mirrors at the cllub and my pupils were titall normal withing like half an ahour.

I suspect your "MDMA" in that instance was probably methylone then as it fits what you describe much better than MDMA does. Of course it could also be any of a number of the similar supposedly MDMAesque RCs but methylone is probably the most common to be passed off as MDMA. Anecdotally, at least.

The general question about differing "qualities" of MDMA has been around as long as MDMA itself more or less. Well, certainly since it got big as a recreational drug. We've got threads dedicated to pill nostalgia ("Pills these days are nothing like they used to be!!! blah blah blah"). There are a gazillion theories but ultimately, as far as I can see, MDMA is MDMA the same as any other chemical is what it is. That's not to say that all MDMA is "pure" and whatever else is in there may well have some effect (depending on what it actually is, of course). I believe that there can be related compounds like MDE, MDA and so on in the final product if it's not properly synthed that would show positive for MDMA on most tests. I'm not sure how different labs go about their testing to come up with percentage figures so I tend to treat percentages as a rough guide to general MDxx content. And obviously set and setting play a huge role in almost every drug experience but especially psyches and entactogens.

I'm busy working on some testing scenarios and need some feedback.

That sounds like an excellent idea, Bear. Testing of drugs other than pills/MDMA would be brilliant. And free through the post?!? I can't see how anybody here wouldn't be interested in that. And if they're not they should be.

After I had posted I realized the next question would be how much / how - so added the for free bit afterwards :D.

I thought it would be useful but just wanted to run it past you guys before I get started. So I'm going to have covered Branded powders, Ecstasy Pills, MDMA (and what is being sold as), Street drugs and I will see if we can get Research Chemicals added as a separate thing (if not then I can't see how classing it as a street drug would be cause any problems).

Will keep everyone posted.

Nice work, Bear :)

Sounds like a brilliant idea to me that could really help people. We all know it can be a lottery out there - even in the supposedly "pure" RC world. Of course it might mean a certain amount of willpower will be required to wait for the test results before snaffling yer Goodies but perhaps it might just encourage people to hang on and wait if it means finding out exactly what you are gonna be putting into your body. Not overnight I'm sure, but if a testing service like this was available it can only be a Good Thing.

Do please keep us updated as and when :)

Fucks sake. Where has the day gone. Kratom makes time fly by far too quickly. I was meant to be heading off into town to get my barnet chopped, but a recruiter has just phoned me and said they are sending me an email and they want to me to ammend a few things on my CV, so i have to wait in for that now. Where the fuck is this email then ? Get on with it please. :! I can do other things that need doing whilst i wait for that i suppose. The haircut can be postponed, its not a severity one major incident.

We have huge successes to announce!

Our recent #rapemags campaign (highlighting displays of womens’ magazines that always feature rape or child abuse headlines on their front covers next to children’s comics and sweets) has received massive media attention and positive industry responses! Headlines in children’s eye line and at till points this week include: ‘The MUM who had SEX with her own SON,’ (‘That’s Life’ magazine) and ‘TIED UP and RAPED AT 7, I had to have 40 stitches’ (‘Chat’ magazine). These are among many other shocking front covers used as sales tools for profit this week. How can children understand this? How do parents explain this while buying grocery?

We are delighted to announce that the British Retail Consortium (BRC) has agreed to update its guidelines for retailers to include the display of these ‘ladies’ magazines. This is a fantastic result for Child Eyes and means that the same guidance now applies for these magazines as for ‘lads’ mags’: they should be displayed out of sight of children. You can now quote BRC guidelines when you ask shops to be more responsible with displays around children.

We are also thrilled to report that Landmark Wholesale Ltd is supporting our campaign and advising its 2000 national retail members to display inappropriate magazines out of sight of children.

We are also very happy to announce that due to your hard work contacting Morrisons the supermarket has agreed to undertake a review of displays of magazines and newspaper merchandising “with the aim of reflecting Child Eyes’ concerns.” Please help us keep up the pressure on Morrisons to make sure they follow through with this promise! If you think that the headline ‘TIED UP and RAPED at 7! I had to have 40 stitches’ alongside a childhood photo of a young girl is appallingly inappropriate for children to see next to sweets at the tillpoint in Morrisons today, please let them know!

Together we can make important changes and hopefully other supermarkets will follow suit.

Other great news!

Our call for donations has been an overwhelming success! We gathered enough funding to enable us to make new connections and begin some very exciting work. Thank you to all supporters who donated. You can still add to the campaign here: http://www.childeyes.org/

Our team met with Reg Bailey, CEO of Mother’s Union, last week. We discussed his Bailey Review into the sexualisation of childhood. We were able to show Reg all of the evidence we have collated including a huge roll of ‘sexualised wallpaper’ containing all of the images that children see everyday in shops.

We explained that we have tested the recommendations in the Bailey Review and they do not work. Profit always comes before children’s welfare for retailers. We were able to say how, after collating an enormous amount of evidence and constant campaigning, we believe that legislation is essential.

We are delighted to be meeting with Peter Wanless, CEO of the NSPCC, in early February. We hope to be able to share knowledge and support each other in the fight against the sexualisation of children. We know there are better ways to raise awareness of child abuse than shock for profit media.

We have another very exciting meeting coming up that we will be announcing very soon plus details of how you can join us for our Mary Poppins demonstration outside Parliament!

In the meantime, please listen out for us on the radio all week (BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC local radio) and see us on Question Time this Thursday night as well as Look East TV News!

Thank you so much for your amazing support, with your help we are making changes!

Kirsty, Kathy and Claire

ive said that those mags are like legal paedo porn for years

Fucks sake. Where has the day gone. Kratom makes time fly by far too quickly.

I'm even more intrigued by this bloody stuff now!

Can it make the time fly between now and me receiving my kratom?

ive said that those mags are like legal paedo porn for years

Do you mean porn for paedos, or porn for the general audience, with paedophilia / rape as the titillating factor?

I'll go with the latter. The sad (and unsettling) thing is that these headlines actually work, and it's 'normal' people who go out and buy them.
