I've never seen it or any of those kinda shows but I do come across people from them in panel shows and the like sometimes and you ain't kidding
I do not believe for one second that these people really are that fukkin thick. Well, they probably are that thick but they cannot be that uneducated. How do you even finish first year at primary school without knowing how many sides a square has? I don't doubt these people are morons - genuine dullards - but that kinda shit has to be put on. The bit I find really sad is that people - and not even just kids - seem to aspire to such unfeasible levels of stupidity and wear it as a badge of honour. This is why I don't believe it when you hear stuff like not being able to spell their own name and shit. They can - maybe only just but they can - but they somehow think it makes them look better to pretend they don't. That's even worse than actually being that thick in my book.

Nah. I think it really just boils down to the fact that these people are totally unremarkable in every way. White medium sliced thru and thru. If you have no particular talent, no particular skill, yet need to create ongoing interest in your accidental media career then what else can you do other than pretend to be actually subhuman in terms of IQ? To compete for the title of actual lowest common denominator. Or to try to out-camp, or out-posh (the latter seems especially popular of late and the former is always a classic standby) other people doing exactly the same thing. Is pathetic. And really rather depressing

I suspect the folk that those kinda shows are aimed at are just the same: extraordinarily ordinary. They also have no particular talent or skill yet lie well within normal ranges of IQ and campness and poshness and so on. Just extremely normal with little or no idea how to be anything else cos they've been shown for years that the only way out of such a pointless and humdrum existence is to pretend to be so mentally subbnormal that you can compete with the monkeys at the zoo and stuff for entertainment value. Who doesn't like to watch stupid creatures throwing food about, grunting, wanking, smearing their own shit up the walls and stuff? Is fun. Just the material is a bit thin to sustain an entire TV show.
Indeed, but like he's gonna be arsed to do that.

True. But even for those of us (like most here it seems) are considerably more selective with their choice of viewing material it's hard to completely avoid such things. I've never seen an episode and wouldn't recognise a pic of any of these peeps but I do see 'em as guests on better (although presumably still pretty hard up for guests) shows and see clips and stuff sometimes. Hence an opinion forms. It's a pretty generic opinion, mind. I'm sure anybody well-versed in the complex and evolving history of trashy, British, not-reality shows could pick a gazillion holes in my smugly superior snidings. Actually they couldn't. Those shows really are bollocks and we really are a better breed of person all round

LOL just reminds me of the time i ate mushrooms and cough medicine a few year ago i benefited from a space eye view of the earth while sitting watching tv and straddling about 3 parralllel universes which was cosmick however, i awoke from my stupour with a huge poo by the side of my bed and the front door wide open. I don't believe it was mine though. I'm sure police could analyse it theres still the poo stripe on the wall...

They do that deliberately dontcha know. The designers. Must be such a fukkin boring job trying to come up with minor variations on a hackneyed theme. Can't really change anything cos traditional things are traditional, but you still have to do something to justify your salary so tweak stuff. If you can amuse yourself one afternoon by making fonts ambiguous enough that you can sneak swears into 'em, or to justapose images to make a cock 'n' balls or summat, you surely would :D
