Gibberings CIX: Faulty 'y' key? Or just high?

This happens with online retail and various special offers online all the time too .. and they usually retract it under some bullshit small print that the exploit or mistake has nowt to do with.

Back in the day before every company was online, there used to be tons and tons of pricing errors on all the major retail sites ... things like hoovers n shit advertised for £000.01 instead of £100.00 ... I did incredibly well out of hunting down these and finding them ... it used to be what HotUKDeals etc and MSE were mainly all about ... you had to get in quick but very often you got what you ordered .. this is before they started battening down the hatches so to speak.

I got 2 shit hot flat screen monitors (when CRT was still mainly in) for 1p each once .. from Aria or another similar company, cant remember. Tons of 99p bargains too

oh, and offhand I remember buying 6 huge hulking great Ice Making machines from comet. Travelled to Hull to pick em up for 99p each (shouldve been £99ea), and then sold em on ebay for £60 a piece

I always seem to miss out on things like these... the thing is everytime I read about them the company has always paid out there mistake or whatever, even cuntish oil companys. ie just the other day someone priced the fuel at like 13.3p instead of 133.3p, people queing and filling up for hours before anyone did anything. Last week tesco where running a few different promotions.. it basically ment you could get 6 bottles of wine worth £50 for £12, with customers "clearing the shelves"... anyway even the banks.. ive probally read about it 3 times where the guy whos filling up the ATM's fucks up annd when you take out an amount, it would give you double... but only charge you the original.. ques of people withdrawing 250 and getting 500 on multiple cards.. the banks put it down to a pricing error and still let people off, bookies are just cunts.

come to the german market in birmingham...come to see this modern city...a true feat of modernism in the 70s with all its subways, turned back to pavements in the 90s marvellous bus service and more canals than venice...biggest pre rapahelite collection in the world

I would rather come n watch Villa West Ham tbh Pinky

Aye it's one of those things that unless you get off your arse and start putting on your own events it's probably never going to be something you do, there's not enough events management jobs going round and the ones that you do see are for organising conferences and stuff, not something I'm particularly interested in.

I think her plan was to work at the bar until they let her run a night, or at least to learn practical shit from the people who do run the different nights, the place has something different on every other night - local bands, DJs etc - & is open till 3am but now I think she's had enough of working till 3 on a Saturday night so has been lured to the darkside (call centre).

Its a fucking great city.

Kind of gotta disagree on that one. I lived there for two years and didn't really enjoy myself in comparison to other cities I've stayed in/been near. Busses that finish at at 12 which is kind of a drag considering how large the city is and how long it takes to get from A to B, a pretty poor live music scene aside from major headline acts that visit the o2, and an electronic music side of things that is relatively non-existant outside of drum&bass and dubstep.
Admittedly the city centre itself is rather nice, coupled with a lot of great parks/greens (I believe it's the greenest city in England) and I have some fond memories of the place, but I never really fell in love with it.

The bookes aren't properly regulated and fund the companies who grant them licenses and are supposed to do the regulation so there's no chance of them being honest. All them are based off shore in dodgy tax havens with lax or no gambling laws. Shady bunch of cunts. I know folk who have lost thousands to bookies and online casinos because they refuse to pay. They claim the ubiquitous 'bonus abuse' every time.

Don't let here do it, tell her to save her soul and stay at the bar. Can you see yourself ever going back to a call centre?

@ matt: I've got fucktons of awesome cheap stuff from all the major supermarkets ... like proper decent patio reclining wooden chairs for a tenner n stuff.

You have to be quick n on the ball though, and be able to dart off in the car quick sometimes to take advantage of em

Oh, and my sis got 10 TV stands from currys once, for 10p each ... glass ones .. heavy as fuck. Still got 2 of those about somewhere if anyone wants one for free .. take up loads of room and have been stored in my dad's garage for about 4 years

Re events management. My mate that's dressed as Pikachu in the What Do You Look Like thread has a degree in events management... she works behind a bar.

I have a mate who has a degree marine biology, he couldn't find anything in that field after Uni so went into Events Management. he's done very well for himself, fuck knows how.

Gyro money legally cannot be used towards debt. Gupta living expense. A student loan is an unsecured debt that is pretty much nulltamd void if you're unemployed, they ain't entitled to anything. Laugh at them and throw the letters in the bin.
Seriously when it comes to unsecured Debt they are powerless, it is illegal for them to take it out of your gyro or you Tax rebates. If I were you I would simply send a letter to them showing you Name and address and would simply write the words 'CEASE AND DESIST' you won't hear from them again!

Yeah fuck loads of people deposit like £50 then you get a message "We are giving you a bonus of £10, do you accept"? basically if you accept you cant withdraw untill youve wagered 100x the bonus most times. I had a 4 month long fiasco with some small american company, basically I was like £150 up but wouldnt let me withdraw as theyd given me like a £20 bonus, said I needed to wager £2000 before I could even withdraw, went on the maddest run ever on roulette, and kept hitting £100 and £50s on random slots, wagered the amount and had £1250 in my account at the end of it. Then took months they where demanding birth certificates, driving licensces etc, finally got it

I think it will all be sorted by tomorrow when I call them and explain I didn't have the letter because I've not lived there for 3 years.

Aye some of them will do anything to not pay. 888 and Lucky Ace have been the worst for me. 888 kept changing the bonus requirements mid bonus saying I hadn't wagered enough even though I was tracking it with a bot and knew I had so I kept playing and winning more each time until they realised they might loose tons and paid. Lucky Ace tried to refuse to pay me a few hundred quid for no good reason but I kept at them for months until they did.

William Hill for months and months had this crazy DAILY Casino Hold Em bonus that was 100% up to £500 a few years ago. It was massively +EV and was getting rinsed to fuck from every gambler on the internet and well known about too. You'd put your original £500 in, stick the bot on and let it play till morning till bonus cleared. Collect the bonus and transfer to sports book then cash out the profit and transfer original £500 back to casino and get it again. Over and over, profiting all the the time. It took them a long time to catch on. The amount of money they must have lost was insane. Thankfully they never tried to fuck anyone over and paid out without issue then changed the house edge of the game so it wasn't +EV anymore then eventually banned the game from the bonus. That was fun whilst it lasted.

you were there for two years.

I haven't been there much for the last 15 years or so, but in the 90's (I know, yawwwwwn :) ) i was in my 20's and Birmingham really was bostin back hthen..the Que Club, Wobble, Subway City, Moseley Dance Centre, Custard Factory had just opened... and an amazing free party scene back then, acid house/techno, in factories, warehouses.

Great live music scene then too....

Places change though.....but it was good for music, nightlife back then.

The markets are great.

The food was never up to much, apart from Mr Egg, which sadly has finally closed I hear :(

I think she's already done it. She's quit the bar anyway. I'm not 100% on the call centre thing, hazy weekend, but I think that's what she said. She'll fucking hate it, at least in a bar she can shout abuse at people (which she does quite often) unlike on a recorded phonecall.

I would never go back to a call centre. I'd work in a bar, or clean a toilet or just about anything rather than go back to a call centre. Never, ever going to happen. Not even for a few months, not even for a day. Fuck call centres.

like it... the greenest city in england, i think it is. its a new city. there are loads of parks, and even tho i'm in the inner city i can still take a walk thru the woods or by a river/canal.. it's great. they did have a rave under spaghetti junction once...how about it spade, you and me and our events know how put on a big event together?

I feel the same. I don't want to say NEVER because who know's, desperate times call for desperate measure but if I have a choice I'll never go back to one. Horrible places to work.

nooooo!!!! mr egg, closed? there were some good clubs here, haven't got a clue now..i wish i'd clubbed a bit more, i'd gone to liverpool to become a hardened drinker in the 90s

Yeah I don't doubt it was good in the 90s man, Que club is now closed unfortunately, I went to one Atomic Jam night there which was absolutely rocking though. Yeah Custard Factory is probably the best venue for electronic stuff, the freeparty scene there is kind of dead though nowadays, was only one in the whole time I was there and even that was in Custard Factory with £3.50 tiny bottles of beer..
Aye I miss the markets a lot, I lived a lot cheaper there. I used to live in the Balti Triangle so food was always pretty damn good :D
