I'm interested in seeing shit in the likes of Cambodia etc because it's so wildly different from here. Normally I'm not into "seeing the sights". I didn't even go & see the Berlin wall on my last holiday but mad temples, doped up tigers etc sounds like fun.
I like just hanging about in big cities. Or lazing on a beach. I'm good with either, just not really into going to see tourist sights so much. Half the time the cunts that go to standard tourist spots are just filling up their camera for shit to look at once they're home, I'm not into that.
Aye, that's pretty much what I was thinking. Australia isn't going to be much different from here, except for better weather, shitter accents & less drugs. Cambodia etc has the potential to be a bit fucking mental & a lot more of an experience than just sitting winding up Aussies all day.
That's exactly my thinking mate. If I get as much as I'm expecting there's really no excuse not to do it.
I might go all Apocalypse Now & just stay there. Train my army of Cambodian child soldiers to produce swedgers from the safrole & shit & don't come home till they send a team of SAS after me.
If you're definitely set on Cambodia, which it seems you are, and you want to stay put for a while I wouldn't recommend anywhere other than the capital Phnom Penh. It's the wild west of the east basically. Guns, drugs and all sorts of fucked up shit readily available. My taxi driver from the airport had offered me weed, mushies, opium, mdma, whores, ak47s and his daughters hand in marriage within 30 seconds of getting in the car. You'd probably find most other places a bit lacking in things to do, infrastructure, etc. It's a poor as fuck country that's totally underdeveloped. From PP you can take trips to the beach Sihanoukville (I wouldn't stay here any longer than a week, most of it's a dump now) which is a few hours away and to the Angkor temples at Siem Reap which is about 6/7hrs away, Kep and Kampot are also nice places to visit but not much action in either, more scenic and chilled. I have mixed opinions on PP, first time I visited a few years ago I hated it, couldn't wait to leave but on this recent trip I stayed in a different part of town (by the river) and I liked it a lot more. Wouldn't set up base there for a long time though, couple weeks is enough there for me I think. It's a pretty small place really and not that much to do / see compared to somewhere like Bangkok and nightlife isn't even close to being on par.
EDIT:
Consider Thailand mate, big bustling party cities with good clubs, rave and parties, stunning beaches (some with drugs), mountains, jungle, drugs available in the north and south (just have to be more careful) and pharmaceuticals from all dodgy chemists (any in the tourist areas), friendly local people, good food, sexy birds, more developed and built up than Cambodia (BKK is a world class city, PP is the opposite), good transport around the country (cheap flights and cheaper fast trains - cambodia has no railway), thai boxing (violence, booze and gambling i.e. the perfect night out), cheap as fuck probably more so than Cambodia when there as a tourist I found beer, food and accommodation was more pricey and less good in Cambodia and if you must shoot a gun they have shooting ranges in BKK, Chiang Mai and the islands but you can't shoot cows or launch grenades about.
I could sit here, lie through my teeth & pretend that I'll be the conscientious tourist, not destroying any of the habitat, not exploiting any of the locals & claim to be one of the good guys etc but I'm not going to. If I'm out there on my own, with no-one to grass me up to cunts back home, then I'll get up to all sorts of fucked up shit haha.
And I make no apologies for it.
That's the spirit.
