Getting Wisdom teeth cut out...should I tell Doc about my high tolerance?

Everyone saying that having wisdom teeth pulled doesnt require anything more than ibuprofen--an important distinction needs to be made: there is a difference between having your wisdom teeth removed (read: pulled) and having them surgically removed.

If hes being put under general anesthesia (as I was when mine were removed) chances are, they are being surgically removed and he WILL need pain medication.

When mine were removed, my insurance paid for a really good surgeon in an upscale part of the city, and I received 45 5/325 oxycodone/acetaminophen tablets for the procedure. I know that many is not the norm, but my point is that percocet is used for dental work and it definitely is needed in some situations.

man up? I was put under twilight sleep (fent+brevitol+ketamine+versed fyi)
and suffered no pain at all afterward. I skipped out of the operating room. 3 fully impacted and 1 partially impacted. I don't know maybe my surgeon was amazing? He said he might need to saw off some of the bone idk but i was 100% fine and just took the vicodin for the lolz.

jstb0b Well said:
My guess is you already have access to pain meds or powerful Opiates

You say your taking morphine I'm thinking whatever he gives you wont be as strong as what your already taking.

I think if you took 2 Acetaminophen in conjunction with your Morphine you should be fine

If he does prescribe you some Percs or Vics just add em to the pile buddy

:)

Well, they were surgically removed. It wasn't bad at all. The Doc took real good care of me. Started me off with a lot of Nitrous Oxide, then Versed, and then Fentanyl.

I didn't mention anything about tolerance, but he figured it out anyway when it took 5x the normal amount of Fentanyl to knock me out. After the 4 wisdom teeth were removed surgically, he wrote a script for 30 7.5/325mg of Percocet... and he wrote another script for 30 7.5/650mg of Hydrocodone for breakthrough pain.

Yeah, he took care of me. ^_^ The doctor was cool as shit about my tolerance. Now I just have to resist smoking cigarettes (don't want the dreaded dry socket). Feeling pretty good right now even though I look like a damn chipmunk.

Man, you really don't want a dry socket. I got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once and I got a script or 25 10/500 lortab, with an extra refill. Also, the 800mg ibuprofen. But I started smoking the morning after the surgery and within 4 days I was back in there with a dry socket and man it sucked. They stuff cloves in the socket, literally into your jaw. All you can taste for a week is straight cloves. It's like your chewing on a Djarum cigarette filter all day, burning the inside of your mouth and everything. you definately don't want a dry socket.
