Hi All,
My pain management doctor decided to take me off Opana for baseline pain and switch me to 40mg of methadone a day, because I recently changed health plans, so I have to pay for my prescriptions out of pocket first and then sumbit them to my insurance company to get an 80% refund. For 60 Opanas (40mg) a month, it was over $600 dollars at the pharmacy, which was way to much for me to pay for. So he put me on 40mg of methadone a day, I know they no longer stock the 40mg Wafers in pharmacies, so I had to get 120 10mg Methadone generics (Roxane generics), the round ones, not the bricks or the methadose tablets. Anyway, the cost for this ended up being $140 dollars, which is a little over a dollar a pill. I was under the impression that Methadone was significantly cheaper than this at the pharmacy, the problem is that I have a contract with my doctor to use the same Pharmacy every month, and most pharmacies dont even stock methadone here in ny, and they wont even tell you over the phone , they need to see the script before they even tell you if its in stock (common procedure here for C2 substances). Anyway I was wondering if anyone else prescribed these knows what a more normal price for the generic is, I was thinking they wouldnt be more than ten cents a pill...Im gonna bring this up to my doctor next month, but I have a feeling he gets a "kickback" from this pharmacy he sends everyone too, because pretty much all of his patients are on pain meds because hes a psycical rehabilitation doctor and specializes in pain management,
