General Methadone Discussion v. Why the Hell Not?

Yeah sounds like you have a good clinic with good doctors. That's important because a lot of them suck.

Once you find your right dose, literally might only be an extra 5 or 10 mg's that makes the difference, you'll feel a lot better and the cravings will start to go away.

yea my doctor is super cool. he is more concerned about the benzos then the opiates. he has told me though that once we stabilize me on a dose i am confortable with that i cant come up with dirty screens. i also cant get take homes until i have completely (even weed) clean screens. i asked him what happens if i just keep smoking weed and he said "nothing, we wont dismiss you but you will never get a take home"...they will, however, dismiss you if you keep coming up dirty for benzos

My clinic has been covered by my state insurance for the since I've moved here (past 6/7 years). The company recently decided to stop accepting Wisconsin state insurance so as of April 1st we'll be required to pay $18 per day or we're forced off. I've been on methadone for well over a decade, so a quick detox isn't in the cards for me. I've been trying for the past year and have slowly worked my way down from 120 to 65. And it hasn't been easy. I'm looking into finding another clinic or doc that can help me once my insurance get denied… if not I'll be paying until I DO find something. THIS crap is the main reason I want off the program. I had been on the same maintenance dose of 120 mgs for a decade with very little buzz involved… just staying normal. I've started to feel my staying on the clinic is just stupid at this point. But then again, I also fear I'll fall apart without the stability the clinic and the drug gives me. I'm either going to be on this shit for the rest of my life or I need to make a solid effort at MSW (medically supervised withdrawal). I change my mind about which option is best constantly! I HATE being sick and my last drop was brutal. It's been almost 3 weeks since my last dose drop and I still haven't evened back out. I found some threads on potentiation methods with methadone and got some relief using Tagamet, Benadryl and a couple other OTC meds. Enough to sleep for 3 hours this morning… finally! So yeah… looking to chat with others who've been through some of this stuff. Thanks, J

I think my insurance covers it then. I really don't know why I just don't fuckin go to the clinic, im stubborn as fuck

Does etizolam show up on drug tests for done?

Ya I've been seriously considering going back to MMT but I've done it before (trying to remember but I think like 4 times) and the last time was just this past Sept. The rub was that I had to travel to Holyoke from Springfield(2 buses to and 2 back) and that journey was like the longest...around 3 hrs from leaving home til gettin home again. They have a satellite clinic in Spfld but there's a year long waiting list to get transferred there. If I was getting dosed there it was a snap...one bus ride down then a little walk; supposed to take two buses but it's quicker to get off at a certain street and walk the rest like cut through the hood and unfortunately had to walk by my dealer's house 8( Anyways I went like three weeks then dropped out @ 30mgs cause I hated the long commute) which i know is a pretty dumb excuse...now I'm considering a different clinic that one of my neighbors goes to and I could ride with him. Easier hunh? BUT this neighbor also deals....sooooo WTF to do, haha

In Orlando the programs are hella expensive. It cost $100 a week. There are 4 clinics. One of the clinics is really strict and won't let you take any prescriptions what so ever(no Adderall, benzos or even soma). You have to attend 2 group sessions a week and one hour long with your counselor. At that clinic if you test positive for benzos they won't dose you until you can pass a UA. If you fail to many UA's for cocaine or benzos they send you to rehab or taper you over a 10 day period. Another clinic across town is the clinic that everyone goes to if they can't cut it at the strict clinic. Everyone sells drugs and begs for money outside. The cops are always present. At this flunky clinic. You can miss as many days as you want up to 5 days in a row without repercussions. You can test positive for whatever whenever you want and all they do is with hold your take homes. The other two clinics are somewhere in between these two extremes but they all share one thing in common and that is the $4oo dollar monthly payment on that Benz you always wanted but now can't afford. If can't pay you don't get dosed and if you can't pay for a week then you get feetoxed over 10 days.

I eventually just found a doctor that would prescribe me methadone. I only got 50mgs but it also only cost me $130 dollars including my script for clonazepam. The doctor also later gave me 90 roxy 30's even though I had gotten the doctor by showing him my MMT transcript papers.

Wow my mmt clinic was not nearly as bad as that and i still felt like it was some hella corrupt shady shit. I kinda just have that feeling about merph in general.

Whoever decided that the clinic should be open on Sunday should be stoned by the patients and just before death be drawn and quartered.

I haven't even had a ua yet this month. I need 2 in a row to get Sundays bottle. I have a feeling it will be Monday.

Boo yah thanks to obamacare my methadone is now fully covered by California's Medi-CAL program as of jan 1 '14. I didn't sign up til Feb so it kicked in March 01. Now I get to save 225/month thank you hey s00s.

^^

How far is the clinic from you?
30 miles one way but it is only 5 miles from work and I usually work 6 days. There is one about 5 miles from my house but it was $270 to intake instead of 80 and $85 a week instead of $80. It takes an hour and a half to drive there and back and dose on Sunday. If I get a day off work I might go down to the other. Clinic now that I have money unless I can get some take homes soon.

Maybe you guys can give those of us that don't go to a clinic (like myself) an idea of how it works. Can you just show up? Do they drug test you right away? Will you get a dose the first time you go? How do they determine your dose? Can you use health insurance and do you need it?

If anyone can answer questions like that and give any other info I think it will help people that are thinking of going this route. Might even help some people that are on the fence to decide.

At my clinic, you have to call and set up an appointment to see the doctor. This takes maybe two weeks of waiting for your appointment.

There's no intake fee for new patients, but I know other places charge to take new patients in.

They drug test you during your appointment to make sure you are using opiates. It's a 14 panel test that's later confirmed by GC/MS.

The doctor determines your dose based on how much you are using, but it's normally 20mg at my clinic. You get to dose the first time you are at the clinic.

You are expected to pay upfront and it's $12 for methadone and $15 for bupe. Insurance can reimburse you, but I've heard of some people that say that they needed prior approval before insurance will cover it.

The only part I hate is going there everyday until you get takehomes. Which require things like clean drug screens. You are tested randomly at least once a month. They hate benzos, so don't use them unless you have a script.

It really surprised me at how much dignity and respect that everyone gives you. Oh yea, you are given a personal counselor too. You aren't forced to have sessions or anything like that. Anyways, the employees just treat everyone how they should be treated and they know that addiction is a disease.

I have an old counselor who loves to talk about getting pussy to me. Which is hilarious and sick at the same time. He's also a former alcoholic, so he knows the struggle.

Yeah I have a cool councilor too. Ex dope fiend who knows what the deal is. A good clinic, with good staff, makes a big difference. There are a lot of shitty ones out there and they give methadone a bad name, and are basically the reason for all the horrible stories out there.
