GBL Megathread 4: End of an Era?

It's really not hard to get yourself out of G addiction just with tapering. So long as you've got at least 2 days of your normal usage amounts then you can do it with minimal discomfort.

I'm sure there are a number of things you could use coca-cola to clean, people don't mind guzzling that down. I'd be interested to see if coca-cola or GBL would dissolve a tooth faster. GBL is an industrial solvent, but then again, so is water.

The alcohol analogy is a good one. I might have to steal that :) I usually compare it to peppermint oil. You can't drink it straight but it sure is lovely dilluted.

I used to try tapering, and it never ever worked. If I didn't have a dose that had an effect, it just made me feel like death. GABA-B is a pretty unforgivable receptor that doesn't respond well to tapering (unlike GABA-A - benzos, etc), but luckily they recover very quickly.

Pure alcohol will strip paint, etc. I used to always use that argument, as well.

Anyone had their ear keep popping when using gbl? It's a pop's about every 10 seconds or so.

^YES. It absolutely affects ears, and caused one (now diseased BLer) to require hearing aids. I have noticed popping ears, semi-deafness for a few seconds at a time, and earache, all when I'm in need of a redose or withdrawal. Don't take these symptoms lightly. However, I was plagued with ear infections from birth (once or twice a year), and I haven't had one since I first took GBL. It's very strange.

I was doing it between once and 4 times a day. usually 1 or 2 times a day (40% of the time?) I used it through the night to sleep (3-5 doses) on 2 nights in a row, and before that 2-3 different, non consecutive nights. this was over a month and a week period... 3ml each dose. I wasn't expecting withdrawals at all, was rather shocked actually.

Again, I know its relative but how much G do you need to take on a regular basis to get this effect or withdrawl?

I think you need to be using it almost round the clock for a good number of days to get full-on withdrawal. I think if you're using it on a regular basis it's more a case of psychological dependence.

Arsery!!! I spent a fucking fortune on a bit o' G recently cos the prices seemed to go through the roof. I was hoping for a last minute sale but no. Or so I thought. Just checked my emails and someone had a sale. It ended today. After I'd made other arrangements at more than double the price. Not impressed :|

In other news, had no G for weeks now after a coupla years of pretty much daily heavy use and feel quite a bit better for it. Withdrawal wasn't anything too horrific - just couldn't stay awake and felt a bit anxious. Kinda withdrawn (ha!) really. Lasted a week or so and I would've happily skipped it but still nothing like the kinda withdrawal others have described. Easiest w/d ever actually. I finally find a drug that I enjoy and get all but zero bad effects from (even without it) and it gets banned. Woot :\

Having a few mls a night won't cause any issues. When you start using it more often, then problems will arise. Don't worry, Emma, you're OK as long as you stick to your current usage.
