GBL safe for a recovering alcoholic?

Hi, I use to use GBL and enjoyed it alot. I stopped alcohol a while ago and am wondering if GBL would be safe or would it set off my alcoholism? I plan to use it for getting past pregabalin side effects, using kratom then kava and GBL. Switching each 1 or 2 days. Will only take a week for the pregabalin side effect to stop I reckon. Just need to know if it's safe to use for a recovering alcoholic.

It might not set off your alcoholism but if you were a true alcoholic, my guess is you would probably become addicted to this instead, just substituting one addiction for another.

I was using alcohol for my anxiety, now being on pregabalin to help my anxiety I'm fine. Don't crave alcohol a bit just cannot get past the side effects of going on it, and they only last a week or so. Hoping switching between drugs should help. Should be noted years ago I was taking GBL to often, nearly 24/7 2 weeks and through it away and stopped with no problems.

True but I'm on meds that really fix my anxiety, I just gotta get to a high enough dose. And can't with benzos as I'm addicted to them tampering the dose so I don't really want to up the dose of them if I don't have to. I'm just wondering will GBL trigger my alcoholism addiction or am I fine if I stay of alcoholic substances...

You're going to mix CNS depressants (benzos with this superglue remover)??? I nearly burned down a motel doing that by falling asleep in bed with a lit cigarette. Good luck to you dude. The only way you're going to get an answer to your question is to do it. All of us are different.

Oh I've been on benzos for a while, was on them last time I took GBL I reckon. They have no effect on me, just keeps me normal hence why I'm trying to come off the benzos. Really just wondering if a GABA-b drug will trigger alcoholism since it works a bit like alcohol. Even though benzos do GBL is different.

It will likely trigger your alcoholism and you could easily become addicted to the GBL. It's not safe and it's not a good idea. Your better off being under the care of a doctor and taking your medications as prescribed. Mixing GBL with Lyrica is also dangerous and could lead to life threatening CNS depression. Benzo's effect Gaba A while alcohol and GBL mostly effect Gaba B. Something to keep in mind when considering cross addictions.

Dam, any reaons it would trigger the alcoholism? As in make me start drinking alcohol again. Is this something known to happen? And doctors are useless, I'll up my benzo dose to stop any pregabalin side effects on an as needed basis. Also I thought alcohol effects Gaba A and B, otherwise it would have the effect GBL does.

We're addicts ...alcohol was your DOC...now u know u can't have it & are bargaining for other vices...GBL will still affect the part of your brain that used to be affected by alcohol...everyone wants more of a good thing....especially addicts...you seem to be doing good man don't throw it away

I don't want another vice I want to make that clear, my medication helps any reason to abuse. I just want to know can and will GBL trigger alcoholism. Trust me I don't miss alcohol, I drank it alone so I really didn't lose much from stopping it. I just want something to stop the pregabalin side effects other than upping the benzo dose. And yes GBL is an enjoyable experiance, never found it addictive though.

The most important reasons to not take gbl have already been mentioned.
I like to add that it will mess up your benzo taper.

What are these "Pregabalin side-effects" anway?

But yeah, GBL/GHB is a highly addictive substance that targets the same receptor (GABA B) as ethanol, and as such probably shouldn't be used by alcoholics unless monitored by a specialist.

Increased anxiety, aggitation, vertigo, fainting spells. Basically feels like benzo or alcohol withdrawal. Also feeling insects are under my skin.

You are switching one addiction to another. All the drugs you've mentioned act on GABA. Gbl might not trigger alcoholism, but it's quite easy to get addicted to Gbl, it will fuck up your stomach ( I really recommend converting your Gbl to Ghb) and withdrawal is hell, it's on par with alcohol withdrawal and benzo withdrawal, might even be worse.

Will prob just up my benzo dose to deal with it, but do you agree kliener it's unlikely for GBL/GHB to trigger alcohol addiction. I can't see how it can logically, mentally I can see how it would trigger GBL addiction if youre prone to it but I mean get addicted to alcohol from taking GBL and trigger an addiction
I plan to cycle, kratom, kava and then GBL. As I am doing now.

You got addicted to alcohol, because it was helping with your anxiety, right ?
GBL/GHB helps with your anxiety too, right ?
The problem is, that both drugs are great in reducing anxiety and both are really addicting, when suffering from anxiety, so you could end up with a GBL addiction, even when cycling with other supplements, but I think it will not trigger your alcoholism, except you put yourself into a stupor with to much GBL and get the great idea to drink again.
You are playing with fire, mixing all those CNS depressants and cross tolerance will most likely happen, so you have to up your benzos and Pregabalin
If you are taking all those drugs/medicaments for anxiety, maybe go to a psychologist, mine helped me a lot with anxiety :)

Well like I say preglabin helps, I drank for anxiety true but took GBL for the euphoric effects. No worry about drinking again I don't live on my own and no alcohol in the house, I will never drink alcohol again.

You are cycling many different drugs..your anxiety is handled by pregablin right?so you just want to get a little high once in awhile on Gbl?if you were once addicted to alcohol and Gbl then the chances of you getting hooked on Gbl is very high..most people seem to end up taking Gbl much more than they thought they would

Yes, gbl is very moreish.
I have an addictive personality and if I had a bottle around i would dose 24/7 till the bottle is empty.
