GBL & 1,4-BD Uses

If somone were trying to order GBL or 1,4-BD from a chemical company, what are some uses I could tell them it was for? I think I can say the GBL is used as a contact cement remover. And I've heard that 1,4BD is used to restore furniture but I'm not totally sure. Any ideas?

Tell them that you want the chemicals to make GHB so you can put them in girls drinks and get laid. I'm pretty sure that's the answer they're lookin for.

if you want to try this, you better have evidence that you operate a legitimate business that requires these chemicals.
i will assume you do, and assure you that, along with your corporate credit card, a letter explaining your intention to use 1,4-BDO to restore furniture, typed on your furniture restoration company's letterhead, should be sufficient for their needs.
i'm sure the nice people at sigma-aldrich would then be quite helpful, but you need to understand that it's very important for them to not allow their potentially dangerous chemicals to come into any kind of, you know, misuse.

I'm in Canada and I don't think the laws are the same in over here compared to the States.

My butanediol favorites are:
"Cleaning terra-cotta tiles"
"High tech cleaning (printer heads etc."
"Making polymers"
"Destroying your liver"
1,4-B is used in so many legitamate applications. Isn't it illegal in florida? I don't know about canada.

there are plenty of sites that'll sell it to you "no questions asked" just look around. the post above me gives a few good words to search with. and don't forget it works realy well as a nail polish remover. ;)

You think you're going to fool some legit supply company into thinking you have a legit need for GBL? I give you much roofles! No, if you contact some supply about a few liters of GBL for which you will pay for with a 7-11 money order, they are going to think "I wonder why he just didn't bother ordering the NaOH too? Hell, he will need it for making that illegal GHB" .. sorry man, your best bet is to find a supplier that flat out doesnt care - and if they are willing to deal with you there is a chance they fall into this group - you wouldn't have to give a reason... any company that needs to buy GBL in order to "make polymers" or for "cleaning terra-cotta tiles" is going to pay with a credit card in a business name - not with a money order... and they would probably order some other solvents as well (as GBL is only a PART of the process) ..
A purchase order may aide you, probably not... you're paying with some form of payment that doesnt sound professional, and I am sure they are aware of all the stories kids give about their bedroom circuit board cleaning business.. I would just place your order - if they shoot you down just move on, maybe makea comment such as "fuck you, I was going to give you a bonus when are cartell makes it big with our illegal GHB ring, but now I'm not going to cut you in and put you on payroll" ..

Another G question:
I was reading the synthesis of gbl and NaOH and how you dilute the product to a total on 1 quart. We never have ghb in our area so everyone uses either gbl or BDO. I was wondering why more people don't make GHB if they can have 7x more ghb than gbl? Any ideas?

the people that do make it are idiots and put too much NaOH and die?

Just so I am correct, 120ml of gbl, 200ml of distilled water and 63g Sodium Hydroxide, when diluted with water, will yeild 1 quart of GHB?

You are right about that. GHB is completely under Schedule III in Canada. GBL is what they call a Category I chemical in Canada, meaning it can only be sold to account customers or cash sale customers who produce *suitable* identification. That only pertains to chemical companies that are in Canada though. There are quite a few companies that will ship GBL to Canada with no questions asked like was already stated. The key with those companies is still not to be a dumbass and mention anything that has to do with consumption.
I'm not sure how it works over there, but GHB manufacturing over here is punished much worse than simple possession. They consider you the top of the chain if you are the one making it.
I won't get into your question on how to make it, but as a harm reduction tip I will tell you that if you attempt to make it, make sure to test the PH.
As far as i'm concerned 1,4 BDO is a heavy industrial cleaner and is nowhere near being a GHB substitute. Here is a link that discusses 1,4-Budanedoil Toxicity -- http://leda.lycaeum.org/Documents/1,4-Butanediol_Toxicity.15209.shtml

Ick. BDO is one of my favorite drugs. Have you run across any links to info on GBL toxicity? I might have to make a switch. Of course GBL is an easy synth away from GHB, which would be even better. People have said that BDO is more euphoric, a different buzz than GHB. Any info on this?

You need to do more research than just asking about this at bluelight. If you read around on the proper sites, you will see stories about the do's and don'ts about ordering chems from suppliers. If you're asking about that here and don't have a legitimate business use, you probably aren't going to make one fly with a legitimate supplier. Any suspicious "uh, uh" on the phone or inability to answer questions from the supplier is going to raise a red flag. A supplier inquiring about your usage is a warning sign. Most legitimate businesses and suppliers never really get into that because time is money and that is bullshit conversation unless they have a reason to think otherwise. I would suggest reading at the DEA site about chemical diversion and some of their information about what they have seen in the past. Do some research.
Best advice, order from a foreign company that knows exactly why you want it and isn't obligated to cooperate with Uncle Sam or uncle Maple Leaf.
I know people with legitimate chemical businesses who don't touch list one chems with a 10 foot pole. My advice is that you do the same.

um, Jes, read a cookbook, take a 3rd grade math class or buy a measured container. you do NOT get 7X GHB than GBL, you are talking about the dilution factor which can be anything.

Well Jes thank you for being this week's posterboy for the "I'm too dumb to do drugs" campaign!
Actually Jes 1 gram of GHB powder and 1 quart of water = 1 quart of GHB = mucho caps d00d!!! You might want to think about the concentration of the liquid (ie the ratio of grams per litre). Then again you could just not bother as thinking about things as complex as that will most probably make your head explode....

Maybe this is why?
"One paper by F. Poldrugo and O. C. Snead ("1,4 Butanediol, gamma-hydroxybutyric acid and ethanol: relationships and interactions.") describes a study which shows that 1,4-butanediol has a depressant effect similar to alcohol's which is completely independant of its conversion to GHB."
