I'm experiencing the pain and heartbreak all over again. Well done. But fuck. I put Storm of Swords down for a week after reading that.

NSFW:
Also, in the book, I thought they killed Arya too for a minute. Scared the fuck out of me, because she is my favorite character

I havn't read the books but the entire episode i felt anxious that something big was going to happen.. and it did.. wow.

Well, what the hell was the point of getting to know all those characters if they were just gonna do that to them in one fell swoop?

I think that's why i enjoy this show.. i like the shock value; the fact that no one is safe makes it all the more engaging.

The scene with the unveiling of the bride was great. I was expecting her to look like an aardvark.

Why do they always have to kill the animals? Honestly the direwolf murders have been the most uncomfortable scenes in the series.

Definitely.

George R.R. Martin will kill everything you ever love.

halfway through storm now! i think they've done quite well with the season. although, book jorah and book ygritte just are so much better. as i'm reading ahead on jon's chapters at this point than the show is (i think i'm ahead by one for him) i gotta say, book ygritte has so much more depth and sadness to her. show ygritte just seems a bit flat...not as threatening. more of a comedic ron weasley atrocity seems to be happening here. (what's with film taking the depth from gingers and just making them comedic relief). i really liked the bit of her crying at the top of the wall and jon being like "o its ok to have been scared" and she's like "I'M NOT AFRAID. YOU KNOW NOTHING. I'M SAD THAT WE NEVER FOUND THE HORN OF WINTER AND RIPPED DOWN THIS WALL. I HATE THIS WALL"
her whole issue with the wall and the pain of the wildlings about being separate and hunted by the southerners is TOTALLY glossed over. pisses me off. cause there is depth to them and i think in the book that raises a lot of issues regarding the way we treat people who may or may not be different from us and can go on as far to like be a metaphor for genocide, war crimes, hate crimes, etc etc.

idk.

ANYWAYS
so, we've all been judging the episodes pretty hard...

what were overall your favorite episodes this season?? favorite scenes? etc

i'm rewatching from the halfway point. and i gotta say, kissed by fire i think might take it for me. so many good things in that episode!! plus, FINALLY giving us some more of the dragonstone characters was wonderful.

i gotta rewatch the season in full though.

Agreed. Plus, she is like one of the prettiest girls in the show on the series, while she is described as a little bit below average in the books. I think it takes away from something, but I suppose everybody under 40 other than people like Samwell has to be good looking in order to get on television. You can't be putting below average ginger girls out there, I suppose.

Facebook has been highly enjoyable. Lots of people declaring they're done with the show. I had a similar reaction to yours with the book.
NSFW:
If I remember right, The Hound rode up behind her, she saw a axe, and then things went black.
I figured that she was dead for certain. It was a nice reprieve from that awfulness to find out he had just smacked her with the flat of it.

I have to say I like the shows version better. It would be nice to know that she was still alive right now if I had just been gut punched by the RW.

I hated the scenes where the direwolves were killed, but as far as their actual deaths go I think they handled it pretty well. We never saw Lady or Grey Wind get struck. I was actually bothered by Arya throwing stones at Nymeria more than the deaths. Not sure why.
To GRRM's credit, he was very sparse with details about their deaths as well. Not gratuitous. Which is in stark(no pun intended, really) contrast to human characters deaths, which are described in gory detail.

NSFW:
I cringe hearing that people were bothered by Grey Wind getting shot. They did the Grey Wind's head on Robb's body bit. I assume it's next week.

I couldn't find the original article, but this is similar-
http://winteriscoming.net/2012/10/new-in-depth-report-from-the-set-in-northern-ireland/

The info's from a landowner whose property was used for filming, so it's not exactly the best source on earth, but I suppose he must have seen what he said he saw.
That he viewed “major characters got their heads removed and sowed onto an ox,” runs counter to what happened in the book. Should be a wolves head sowed to a fake body, right?
Regardless, seems like it's probably just a CGI matter and it has most likely been filmed.

And, no. I do not feel it's necessary to show that particular defilement.
I think it's very necessary to further show that the Northmen fighting in and near the tents end up getting burned alive and that there's essentially nothing left of Robb's army.
But, Robb and Grey Wind seems unnecessary. From people's reactions, it does feel like they've been traumatized enough for now. That's ASOIAF/GOT's for you, I suppose..... :\.

^That was priceless.
This has been a very strange experience. Knowing and waiting for this to come about, wondering if the show would get it right and hoping there were enough people that hadn't had some fucker spoil it for them so that there would be enough of those type reactions.
I do not feel disappointed.

hate to say i told you so but damn. i was ready and still. still the whole time. the whole time i was panicked. hella panicked, the whole time. catelyn stark, thank you, for that. on my honor as a Tully! on my honor as a STARK!

oh arya's face :(

I paused the episode like 5 times and tried to find something to do to avoid what was coming.
That was awful in a very good way. As painful to watch as it was to read.
Fuuucccckkkk.

The authors point in getting you to know and like the characters and then doing THAT was to kick you directly in the nuts.
It was effective, right?
No one is safe.

Lighten up; Arya Stark herself is handling it better than you are. https://vine.co/v/b3XZMHmxzxh

I think my favorite response on GoT FB feed was a simple "Fuck that episode."
lol saw that vine today haha. she's too much.
wow. guys...wow.
i saw you talking about the red wedding from season 1. i thought it would be sansa's and joff's.
then, i saw somewhere she married tyrion, i thought that might be it.
then when robb married talisa, i thought THAT was the red wedding.
NSFW:
i looked up the lyrics of rains to castemere and saw robb died and the red wedding was a "slaughter" when the first season 3 rains of castamere teaser came out.
i did not know catelyn died.
i thought they would leave her alive as an insane example.
i'm reading on pace with the show.
knowing about jeyne, i DID NOT THINK TALISA WOULD GET PREGNANT, GO TO THE WEDDING AND THEN GET SLAUGHTERED.
the worst bit for me was him crawling towards her with her uterus stabbed out.
and catelyn.
oh catelyn.
oh catelyn.

tonight i read the chapter.
oh catelyn.
i don't know which was worse. seeing a pregnant woman get stabbed in the womb (which was the first attack mind you) or the POV of catelyn going through all of that and scratching her face off and whatnot.

wow.

cried a lot these past 2 days

and in case it wasn't enough, here's some gifsets and photo's i've found on tumblr guys.
they're good...in a way.?
