I'd rank it as a tie between GoT, Breaking Bad and The Borgias, with The Newsroom a close second. I think GoT is a great story, but may not necessarily be the juggernaut of a TV show that it's purported to be. It's extremely plodding, and the concurrent plots are not interdependent enough--at least not on a per-episode basis.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on The Borgias; this season has been, IMO, lackluster compared to the previous two (well, except for that orgy), and really wants for Colm Feore.
 
I liked it, too. I thought they handled the Yunkai line well, in particular.
The changes they made all work and their choice for Daario was a good one.
I wish we could have seen the beheadings. Oh well. I suppose that would have ruined the scene.
Lots of nudity, too. That never hurts.

Seems though got, vikings and bates motel have all stopped?

i finally saw last week's episode. oh tyrion. stupid, foolish sansa. yes all lannisters are horrible i can't believe how horrible my life is blah blah. although, way to go sophie turner. good face acting skills. seriously sansa, can't you even be nice for like second as tyrion fumbles his way through trying to tell you that he's ON YOUR SIDE. why is it so hard for you to get that? swear to god, girls.
 
halfway through storm now! i think they've done quite well with the season. although, book jorah and book ygritte just are so much better. as i'm reading ahead on jon's chapters at this point than the show is (i think i'm ahead by one for him) i gotta say, book ygritte has so much more depth and sadness to her. show ygritte just seems a bit flat...not as threatening. more of a comedic ron weasley atrocity seems to be happening here. (what's with film taking the depth from gingers and just making them comedic relief). i really liked the bit of her crying at the top of the wall and jon being like "o its ok to have been scared" and she's like "I'M NOT AFRAID. YOU KNOW NOTHING. I'M SAD THAT WE NEVER FOUND THE HORN OF WINTER AND RIPPED DOWN THIS WALL. I HATE THIS WALL"
her whole issue with the wall and the pain of the wildlings about being separate and hunted by the southerners is TOTALLY glossed over. pisses me off. cause there is depth to them and i think in the book that raises a lot of issues regarding the way we treat people who may or may not be different from us and can go on as far to like be a metaphor for genocide, war crimes, hate crimes, etc etc.

so, we've all been judging the episodes pretty hard...

what were overall your favorite episodes this season?? favorite scenes? etc

i'm rewatching from the halfway point. and i gotta say, kissed by fire i think might take it for me. so many good things in that episode!! plus, FINALLY giving us some more of the dragonstone characters was wonderful.

i gotta rewatch the season in full though.
 
the unsullied bit where they kill the masters, the climbing the wall and kissing ontop, Tywin talking to joffery about the meetings and dragons, tyrion lannister and sansa stark wedding. apart from that its been a bit boring, lots of stuff happening which i couldnt give a shit about
 
Well, what the hell was the point of getting to know all those characters if they were just gonna do that to them in one fell swoop?

hate to say i told you so but damn. i was ready and still. still the whole time. the whole time i was panicked. hella panicked, the whole time. catelyn stark, thank you, for that. on my honor as a Tully! on my honor as a STARK!

I paused the episode like 5 times and tried to find something to do to avoid what was coming.
That was awful in a very good way. As painful to watch as it was to read.
Fuuucccckkkk.

The authors point in getting you to know and like the characters and then doing THAT was to kick you directly in the nuts.
It was effective, right?
No one is safe.
