ok, let's try this. the person above you picks a random number. you go to your dvd collection and count in (traditionally from the top-left, left and down) that number, randomly landing on a dvd. let us know what that dvd is, what you like about it, why you have it, etc.
then pick the next number. i chose my lucky number - 23 - and this was there:
brass eye - series and special
chris morris is something of a comedy god to me. i saw him first on the day today (which also brought us alan partridge, king of the inappropriate metaphor).
i love brass eye because it is subversive, obscene and absolutely hilarious. it's one of those shows which just nails everything it seeks to satirise. the writing, camera work and acting are all pitch perfect and, in a world where 'lol' has become something of a throwaway lie, it's made me literally laugh out loud so many times.
of special interest to bluelighters - the 'drug' episode. check it out.
quotes:
"That is scientific fact. There is no real evidence for it, but it's scientific fact."
"Do you know they actually say to me that there is no such thing as heavy electricity. That electricity couldn’t possibly fall out of wires. What a load of old crap."
"Luckily, the amount of heroin I use is harmless, I inject about once a month on a purely recreational basis. Fine. But what about other people less stable, less educated, less middle-class than me? Builders or blacks for example. If you're one of those, my advice is leave well alone. Good luck."
"What is Cake? Well, it has an active ingredient which is a dangerous psychoactive compound known as dimesmeric andersonphosphate. It stimulates the part of the brain called Shatner's Bassoon. And that's the bit of the brain that deals with time perception. So, a second feels like a month. Well, it almost sounds like fun...unless you're the Prague schoolboy who walked out into the street straight in front of a tram. He thought he'd got a month to cross the street."
"An overdose of heroin is fatal - in the short term. But there has been no research whatsoever into long term effects."
