It's technically not a hymn, and doesn't get sung in churches anyway. but he talked about nice things in England such as the lovely hills etc so it seems he liked England and it is somewhat patriotic so is fitting for sports matches to get the crowd going, but you get the urge to twist it into pointless semantic bollocks. At least we can agree that it's better than holag or gstq.
