I've recently finished my University degree and am starting full time work. I have gained a new more positive attitude since graduating. I am trying to leave old habits of procrastination, smoking too much weed and wasting time on computer and drinking.
I would like to find new friends and get fitter through running and lifting weights, playing squash, joining a taichi and yoga group, hiking.
I don't want to drop my old weed smoking, drinking buddies, but I think they draw me into bad habits. It's hard to separate our shared interests, like music, books and creativity without thinking of the weed smoke.
I think that the best way forward is to keep in contact with my old friends, but only doing healthy activities, like walks and sports and going out to art shows, while refusing to go to bars or out to score weed. I think this will weed out those who are my real friends and those who only want to get high with me alongside.
I'm wondering if theres anyone else who's made positive changes towards health and fitness, and how that affected their old friendships.
