fair tipping you scored 3 points...

What the fuck??

I blew this round...

At least I picked Collingwood this round and they won... they however are not allowed to win any more games at all.

FUck I can't believe that I actually tipped Carlton... I must have been on tipping crack last week...

CB...

Tell me about it

Roos V Dees ???

Pies V Port ???

Freo V Saints ???

Cats V Swans ???

Dogs V Crows ???

The only one you can tip with real certainity is West Coast V Brisbane

hawks v dons is a little easier I think, the hawks have been looking the goods this season, I wouldn't put a finals berth out of the question for them

Ha ha ha...

I have no idea about footy so I tipped all the home teams and got 8

*does happy dance...

WTF is the deal with the Freo game...

If they win the appeal im fucked, i picked the saints goddammit!!!

Freo was absolutly ripped on the weekend. I just wonder what will happen with the appeal and wether or not the AFL will back it's own umpires using the rules as justification.:\

10.4 BRINGING PLAY TO AN END
10.4.1 End of Quarter
The Timekeepers shall sound the siren to signal the end of a quarter
until a field Umpire acknowledges that the siren has been heard and
brings play to an end.

10.4.2 Siren Heard by Field Umpire
Play in each quarter shall come to an end when any one of the field
Umpires hears the siren.

10.4.3 Signal
A field Umpire shall signal that he or she has heard the siren by
blowing a whistle and holding both arms above his or her head
.If
immediately before hearing the siren,a field Umpire is of the opinion
that a Player should be awarded a Free Kick or a Mark, the field
Umpire shall signal that play has come to an end and then award the
Free Kick or Mark to the Player.

I think most people are aware that the game isn't over untill the umpire hears the siren, but according the laws of the game the timekeepers should sound that siren untill it is acknowledged by the field umpire. Sounds to me like the timekeepers should have kept blaring that siren out loud and clear untill the umpires stopped play which was something i didn't hear.:\

All in all i just hope sanity prevails and Freo and get their 4 points, they deserved the win a lot more than the Saints deserved a draw.

Dockers win siren debacle
May 3, 2006

FREMANTLE has been awarded victory and four competition points from its disputed match against St Kilda, the AFL Commission ruled in Melbourne today.

Fremantle led Sunday's match in Launceston by a point when the siren sounded.

But the umpires did not hear it and St Kilda scored a behind to level the scores before the match was brought to an end.

The Dockers had lodged a protest over the result of the match, with the AFL Commission deliberating for more than four hours today before awarding the points to the Dockers.

AFL Commission chairman Ron Evans acknowledged there would be many unhappy with the decision, but said the league took full responsibility for the debacle.

He said the commission believed Fremantle had rightfully won the match, with the timekeeper making an error by not holding down the siren once the umpires had not heard it.

"The match concluded immediately after the siren was first sounded in the final quarter," Evans said.

"The effect of this interpretation is that the Fremantle Football Club won the match."

St Kilda president Rod Butterss said the club would decide tomorrow whether to take legal action in an attempt to get the decision overturned and the draw reinstated.

Butterss acknowledged had the two clubs' positions been reversed, St Kilda would have also protested against the result.
But he said that was not the point and warned the commission's decision to change the result of Sunday's match could have far-reaching consequences for the sport.

Evans said the incident reflected badly on the AFL and it needed to apologise, fix the shortcomings in the system and get on with things.

"The AFL accepts full responsibility for what took place and unreservedly apologises to the clubs involved, the players, and football fans," Evans said.

Fremantle now leapfrogs St Kilda to sixth position with three wins and two losses, while the Saints now slide to eighth place behind the Dockers and Geelong.

St Kilda now has a 2-3 win-loss record.

The four-day saga began when the siren sounded at Aurora Stadium in Launceston with Fremantle a point in front.

Controlling umpire Mathew Nicholls did not hear it, allowing play to continue despite Dockers players celebrating then protesting around him. He bounced the ball after a stoppage inside St Kilda's 50-metre arc.

St Kilda's Steven Baker levelled the scores with a point, which was paid amid mass confusion as players from both sides herded around the Saints' goal.

Non-controlling field umpires Hayden Kennedy and Michael Vozzo also ran down the ground, with Kennedy holding his hand to his ear. The three umpires conferred before Baker was paid a free-kick for being bowled over after his previous kick.

The original point was annulled and the second kick from 40m also missed to the left, going through for a point.

The umpires heard a second siren and ended the match.

Yay for us but I'm sure there will be a huge backlash. I wonder what happens with all the tipping competitions and sportsbet.

Edit: Looks like they've changed the results on footytips.com.au, Damm bec beat me by a point ;)

Dammit... lost a point, but i just realised how tightly packed this tipping competition is. Good stuff.

Perhaps the AFL should investigate the facilities of the regional fields they choose to have these marketing exercises at.

I wonder if they will adjust the sirens up a few decibles before this weekends fixtures.

I'm from Tassie and absolutely fucking hate AFL football being played exclusively in Inceston. The ground is OK (although obviously they can't get their shit together enough to install a siren that works) but it's shithouse compared to Bellerive oval.

Bellerive is an international arena that has hosted numerous VFL football games and cricket one day international and test matches. The surface is better, the capacity is larger and the facilities are far superior. It even has a siren that works! It's the obvious choice for AFL games in Tassie.

The reason games are played in Launceston comes down to politics and tourism. The politicians love having games in the north because it wins them votes, which is a bullshit reason. Both Paul Lennon and the previous premier, Jim Bacon were from the state's north. The tourism thing is more understandable given that the north is the 'gateway' to the state (i.e. the Spirit of Tasmania docks in Burnie) so in that regard it makes sense for the games to be held there. However, given the clear superiority of the Bellerive oval and the higher population of Hobart, it is ridiculous that NO AFL games have been held there for years.

Hopefully this debacle will make the AFL rethink having Aurora stadium as the exclusive Tassie venue.
