Let me restate whats going on: Rand Paul is opposing Amy Klobuchar's bills and has been for 3 months. He finally received a good amount of attention and the DEA came to his house to try to get him to lift the block. Klobuchar is begging him to as well, but he doesn't want to push prohibition even further, and put more people in jail, and as far as he can, he's trying to stop this bill and all discussion of it.
He said something somewhat funny and weird: Prison leads to "islamic fundamentals". And while thats a pretty wild viewpoint, as long as he's blocking this ban, I don't care about his personal views on religion.
Nothing good would come out of it, just more dangerous analogs. Also, 41 substances will be unable to be researched for a long, long time and thats his main concern, as well as the unneccesary prison sentences.
The thing someone mentioned with credit cards has nothing to do with the law. I know who you're talking about. Anyway, the reason that certain products aren't allowed through CC is because the CC providers like Austpay, Alertpay, Moneybookers, etc all can get into trouble when "questionable" things are sold through their portals. This is usually stuff like child porn, but research chemicals have become more of a concern for these companies.
EDIT: The Islam thing takes away from credibility, though, and thats sad. Why do you have to be prejudiced when trying to stop prohibition... or maybe he's playing on America's fear of islam. *shrug*. I know its a stretch. Lol.
EITHER WAY! I'm right behind Rand. I really hope some of you BL users are too
I wrote a letter to him about it, actually, and I urge all of you who care enough to do the same and let him know that you care about your personal freedom (if you do) and if you appreciate what he's doing, let him know!
