FL, Miami - March 22-26th 2005, WMC all events listed **REVIEW**

I had a blast at Ultra. I must say that I am a huge Breaks fan, and was mostly over at the Breaks tent. I think Jackal and Hyde spun at the same time as Oakenfold, so I stayed and watched Jackal and Hyde (awesome set btw). I will definitly be there next year........ What a day/night to remember. (I'll post pics when I get them developed)

The Ultra people are about money (Hey, it costs them megabux to put the thing on and they have to get it back) so none of the the food concessions can sell water or soda or even ice cream because that would compete with the 'controlled' sale of water, beer, and 'cocktails' at 5, 6, and 7 dollars. Know this before you come and don't come if you can't pay the fare because this is the hidden add-on , just like your plane ticket that was only 120 bux before the 911 fee and the airport tax and all the other addons than doubled the price.

If people can't pay these prices, these parties will finish forever. You want underground, see me. You want big name international DJs, massive sound, mega-lights, Kryogenifex, pay up and stop whining.

Free water refills were at the drinking fountains by the (closed) batrooms under the spiral stairs. Clean(ish) potties were still to be found at midnight.

Wish I could say the same about the taxis.

Bachus.
A great time, great music, great companion. Still smiling.

My highpoint of WMC was Steve Porter at State on Friday. It was a free party and for all of you who missed it...... I guess you'll have to wait till he comes to a town near you to hear the dirty tech house that he threw down that made me nearly have a seizure. WOW. Lawler at State on Wednesday was incredible as always too.
I would never visit Miami other than during WMC, but overall I really had a great time. Now I just have to get my body clock back on real world and work time. Oh.... and listen to the 20 or so CDs that I got handed to me.

We had a great time at Ultra, once it started cooling off. It was so hot early in the day I had to just sit in the shade and not move. They made me throw away my camera and half a pack of cigarrettes, but it was worth all the bs to be there with tens of thousands of people and have so much fun. That was my 4th Ultra and I'll definately be back next year.

The afterparty was very cold, and opened an hour and a half late, but the music was awesome. We couldn't stay too long because we were totally brain dead by the time they let us in and just couldn't stand up anymore.

As far as water costing $5, that has always been the price, and considering what it must cost to throw a party like that, it's not that bad to have to pay it. At least the lines weren't very long.

Can't wait until next year!

Bachus

I was near the spiral staircase and did not see any water, at least it wasn't noticeable.

I have no problem paying $5 for a drink, what I have a problem with is not being able to wash my hands after using the bathroom. That is unsanitary!

There were soap and water dispensers near some of the port o lets, but the water was SHUT OFF. That's scummy.

What if people died from heatstroke? With the Miami heat, it could happen, rolling or not. This is just inexcusable.

Kudos to Ultra staffers for a great event but the no water thing was just fucking wrong.

Sounds like the best afterparty around... look for us in the DANCESAFE t-shirts!

^^^ I think I saw you guys at the main ampitheater, 3 guys black dance safe t-shirts dark hair?? Right?

Anyways to everyone that said there was no running water did you miss the two area's that looked like a giant bounce house? Those were mist tents and they had like 6 tubes of running water, tons of people were filling their water bottles over there.

I think Ferry Corsten did the most amazing set ever. tiesto was ok but not as good as last year. Sandra K and Fusion kicked ass also. And if you caught any local DJ's at the DJ breakthrough tent DJ STEEL had everyone dancing their ass off. =D

Oh yeah... I figured out the South Beach diet.... no sleep... lots of red bull.... walking from 22 to nikki beach and back... and dancing till 5 am. That will drop the pounds like nothing else.

Some of the Highlights for me:

Moby: The best show I saw the whole evening. Totally kicked ass.

Rabbit in the Moon: Still mostly the same show but very cool. The SWAT team part being the highlight.

Josh Wink: Just blew the tent off. Still great after all these years.

Paul Oakenfold: One word, WOW.

Generally a great vibe through out. I never felt watched or hassled by security.

Very well run event and location.

Things the sucked.

Crystal Method just spun records. You’d think that for the biggest event in North America they would put on their regular show. What a let down. Especially since they are one of my favorite Groups.

V.I.P. …..uh…for what???? Even the shirt they gave me was for LAST years show??? What the fuck.

All V.I.P. holders had to get their tickets for the after party at only 2 Will call windows??? 2 windows for who knows how many thousands of people at the same time.
Then waiting in line to get in. Then waiting in line repeatedly to get to the floor. When I finally got in the music really didn’t sound all that great to me, but I might have been to burned out by then to really be in to it.

Parking lot the offered event parking and then closed before the event was over. I ended up waiting till 8am to get my car out.

Never caught sight of any Bluelighters. I mostly lurk now but I remember having a great time at ERA a few years ago.

I hope everyone else had as good a time as I did.

What stage was Rabbit in the Moon at?? I didnt see them on the guide lineup at all ...........

Main stage?

Were the fireworks part of their show, because I was sitting on the grass by the breaks stage, and heard these loud booms, but by the time I got up, they were done.

I'm pretty sure the fireworks were. I left a few miniutes before Rabbit was done (i've seen the show a few times) cause I wanted to see a little bit of PVD. As I while I was walking to the Ampitheatre I heard/saw the fireworlks display from the soundstage.

^^^Did you stay for BT at the Breaks stage?? If so how was he??

BT was fuckin incredible, he had the whole crowd going nuts. I was right there a few feet away, we all started to chant his name and his eyes lit up, he looked completely overwhelmed. Great performance as well as by Infected Mushroom, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, and Timo Maas. I missed soo many other sets, there was just too much shit going on!

this drove me fucking crazy, everywhere i went asking about vip they would say go here, then those ppl would say go somewhere else. after they contradicted each other serveral times i finally just said fuck it and left. i wasn't going to wait in line another 45 minutes with all these sweaty ass cracked out ppl. it wasn't what i had planned on doing and had already ruined the mood enough.

other misc shit:
- i will have to remind myself not to drink until the sun goes DOWN next time, i was so dehydrated.
- i should have taken my shirt off cuz my white ass looks so like a damn redneck now...lol.
- i was almost scammed $100 by a waitress for buying a damn $10 sandwich!
- if you thought it was hot outside try taking a piss, it was fucking 150 degress in there and smelled like dead animals.
- whos idea was it to turn off the DAMN WATER!!

All in all it was an excellent time with tons of great energy. It was good to meet the few of you I did if it only was for a short amount of time.

Yeah.. that was us!

Hey sflraver,

Yeah you must have saw me in the black DanceSafe t shirt. I was the one with the black hair.

There's some pics up on DS' site.

You must have been up against the back wall or something when Tiesto was on. That was the only time we went to the main ampitheatre.

I'm kinda bummed I missed Rabbit in the Moon after all I heard about them.

Moby was cool though. That was the only full performance we saw.

We arrived at 5 and the hours just flew by.

actually there was running water, by the stairs up to the amphitheatre there was like 5 water fountains, i was usin em all day

I had a great time. I had VIP tickets which were supposed to get us in the AA Arena - They didn't, I had to pay extra to get in. Wwe waited for an hour and a half to get into the AA Arena - I gave up on that. They were very unorganized.

I got my VIp tickets for free. I am gald I didn't pay for them. The only thing I received was a quick entrance into Ultra, a Ultra 6 T-shirt left over from last year. Access to 2 seperate VIP areas. No free drinks like the past years.

My friends were so fucked up, and I was the only sober person. I ended up taking a cab back to Boca and it cost me $130... Other than that I had a great time. I finally got to see Tiest live :)

One thing, I didn't get one shot to come out from the crummy camera that they sold me at the show. I saw alot of peeps that smuggled digital cameras in. It would be great if some one could email me photos of the crowd and artists while they were on stage for me.

Just send me an email: [email protected]
