Potentate is the wrong word really, benzos synergize with opiates more than 'potentate' them.

Well, I think you'll probably experience withdrawal syndrome if you only take half your dose of oxy, but that's a good safe way to start out, so go ahead and do that. It's not like oxy takes forever to kick in, you'll feel better in 15-30 minutes if you need to take more oxy.

Both, really. I used to do oxy, xanex, carisopridol. Fucking wonderful combo(but I have to say it's dangerous to follow the harm reduction bit).

Do benzo's make you black out like alcohol does? I thought they just made me calm and sleepy and a bit spaced out?

I think I'll try 5 valium and 10 oxy at first. How long does valium take to reach its peak? I wanna wait until it's reached it's peak before adding either 10mg more of oxy or 5mg more of valium?

I have NO benzo tolerance either. Only time I've ever had benzo's (lithium, I think) was when I was treated for alcohol withdrawal in hospital but I was given them to stop seizuring etc, I didn't take any more than absolutely necessary.

IME benzos made me black out easier than any substance. I would take maybe 3mg Xanax sometimes 4 and have no idea what I did for the whole day. But when I would drink a shitload I could still remember most of what happened.

I'm researching valium online right now so I know the signs that I should stop and details of half-lives etc. I want to go into this as well-informed as possible.

I'm sure. If worst comes to worst I guess I can always go to rehab :/.

I took 4.. The next thing I know it's over a week later.. My girlfriend doesn't like me.. I have injuries (crushed finger, harsh bruising).. I've insulted my friends.. etc etc.. The only reason I came to is because i ran out.. It was seriously that easy.. Apparently I was drinking during this period as well.. I'm guessing the first 4 (silly starting dose, i know.. oh they were 10mgs) sent me into an "aw fuck it" state.. and yeah.. Worst drug experience ever.

I find it weird how they are SO much anti-benzos talk on this site.
Taking a couple of valium seems to most people worst than IVing heroin or cocaine :/.

I'm guessing you kept re-dosing too?
That happened to me with alcohol. I'd drink 'till I passed out then wake up in withdrawal and start over again. It's amazing how fast several weeks or even months can pass when you're fucked up 24/7.

40mg is A LOT starting, though. I'm starting at 2mg lol.

Therapeutic doses of benzos are fine, and help a lot of people, but what we see a lot of on here is people taking like 20mgs of clonazepam or whatever a day, which is awful. What is the point of being passed or blacked out all the time?

The cessation syndrome from benzos is fucking horrendous, not to mention neurotoxic if said addict doesn't taper down correctly....

^ Yeah I obviously kept re-dosing But my point is I was gone from the get go.. I was in no state of mind to make any rational decision from stage one (but again.. yes i was stupid and dosed 40mg)

When I was drinking, my dad locked me in his house once with no drink to force me to cold turkey. Alcohol withdrawal and benzo withdrawal are similar so I know the hell. Plus I ended up having a total of FOUR seizures that day (the latter two leaving me on life support)...I've withdrawn a few other times and experience delirium tremens etc.

I intend to take a therapeutic dose, not amounts to knock me out or make me stupid.

Gotta warn you that if you were an alcoholic you will probably love valium, it definitely sounds like you are primed for that particular addiction

yeah synergise is the right word. for you does it adds to the euphoria or just the sedation?

the only benzos that i find remotely euhproic (out of the ones i have tried) are valium and temazepam, esepcially when combined wth opiates. other benzos arent really recreational IMO and should be just used for anxiety purposes

Actually, would Valium help with opiate withdrawal? If so I can always just take the two on different days or something. The only reason I am mixing them is bause I ge real sick if I don't take opiates several times a day.

yes, valium will help with sleep and anxiety. the withdrawal is still there in a sense, but it seems lessened from the valium

they synergize as morphling said, they add additional anxiolysis and since most benzos relax the muscles, they cause sedation and addition analgesia when combined with opiates.

Ohh, that's good then. Yes it was chlordiazepoxide they called it in hospital 'cause I remember thinking "fucks sake, just say "librium"" haha.

I take the oxy for pancreatitis but I also have muscle spasms in my back due to 2 slipped disks so the Valium may help with that.

If I go longer than 6 or 7 hours without Oxy I start sweating and feeling anxious and stomach cramps/diarrhoea/nausea start. I usually take 150mg a day and try to take 50mg every 5 hours or so to even it out.

Taking 80mg of oxy feels nice to me. Not high high but warm and sleepy and happy.

can you take 40mgs and not be sick? like will 40mg hold you?? ? now that i know your tolerance a little better, i think you should start out with 40mg oxycodone and 5mg valium. wait 45-90mins, and if need be increase the oxy by 5mgs and the valium by 5mgs.

dont go over 50mgs, your usual dose. 40 will really send you on your ass with 10mg valium so be careful.


can i ask you something, is the valium and oxycodone prescribed to you? i know that oxy is, but the valium too? you should really just take it by what the prescription says. id if i were you, i would take your normal oxy dose, maybe a little bit lower, and take 5mg valium 3x a day for pain and muscle spasms. valium is a nice muscle relaxer IME

no problem man, i like to help! and i am pretty knowledgeable on particularly oxycodone and benzos. i have used them multiple times together and they are a good combo is used responsibly. if you have a script for valium, just take it like the dr prescribed. dont go trying to get high taking 5-10 pills at once, its not really worth it. your tolerance rises, and you put yourself at risk to OD. not cool...

The half-life of valium can be up to 7 days??? Surely wikipedia is mistaken?

Slow half-life of 2-8 days.
Metabolites have been found in the urine and in the plasma(blood) 14 days after a 10mg dose.
