Fire Poi, Fire staff, Glowstringing, Fire hoop, Fire breathing! LETS SEE IT!

Wow what a great thread idea. I've just recently gotten into poi, but I've been using color changing LED ones to practice with until I get good enough to use fire, although I have to say I like the LED ones just as much as many of the fire ones I've seen. I really want to become really good with them. Hopefully this thread will be able to offer tricks and things.

aw shux. :) mz thizzle, don't be afraid to light up and try just a couple tricks. you don't have to be the poi master before you light up. trust me, you'll be glad. and you'll never stop learning tricks so why wait to burn? i'm teaching a friend right now and i burn the poi for the first couple minutes while the flame goes down some, then i give them to her to practice a thing or two. you're gonna get burned at some point; it's kinda your initiation. get yourself a pair of kevlar sleeves. they come in quite handy.

also, flamma aeterna (www.flammaaeterna.com) is another great resource for supplies, though HOP has better trick instructions (actually, youtube has the best of 'em all. i could sit there and watch spinning videos all day.). flamma aeterna is where i got the tutorial on how to make my snakes. my poi are almost burned out so i'm going to make a pair of monkey fists next.

also, not that i have any experience with this, but i have a friend who breathes fire with liquid paraffin. i would definitely read up on it before using it though, as with anything. and make sure, whatever you do, that you have a safety. this is srs bsnss, k?

AND where's a.j.?? miss sesseh fan & staff spinna! she also turned me on to trick concepts (fire.trickconcepts.com). let's go to brc next year!

Thanks for all that info squirt! I definetly plan to try fire poi the first chance I get, I just dont want to invest in a pair myself until I'm a little better at the ones I already have. I'm really excited about learning with them though :) I've seen some amazing tricks with poi.

thanks brainbug, i'll check out lycopodium...

thanks everyone else,
and god bless

Anyone here a club/fire juggler? :)

Can fire-clubs be home-made? Because quality ones are really expensive! ( i.e. google "juggleart fire torches" - sorry- i cant post urls yet! ) I have been told home-made ones are difficult to weight properly and are 'clunky'. :(

Great pics everyone! Keep it up!!

mods, is is approiate for me to suggest that all active participants of this thread Die in a Fire here in SO?

What is fueling the flame thrower?

In my opinion, blowing things up is far more fun, but hey....

the LED lights look pretty nice.

leojay, your flame thrower is crazy shit!! be careful not to set your backyard alight!

Flames are fuck'n cool. I've never gotten the opportunity to try them.

I'm not gonna try and claim I'm any good... but here's me and my long ass glowstrings I homemade from some free glowsticks.

hope i didn't scare anyone by posting that and dissapearing...

i'm using paraffin, and it works ok, but its just a novelty, don't try and build one

it's safer than fire breathing

peace

sooooooo i set myself on fire last night at the full moon jam. just wanted to pop in and reiterate how important safety is, and no matter how "cool" fire spinning is, it's dangerous. fire is not a toy, so please don't look at it as something we're playing with. never burn alone. <3

^ omg! <3 hope you're ok, love! be careful; i dunno what i'd do without my squirtle :(

no no, i'm fine, it was just my shirt that caught fire. i had a tank top on underneath. sheeeeeit, i ain't goin' down that easy. ;) (offtopic, i got your text! it's ok love, i understand, but i'll miss ya!! <3)
