A lot of the films mentioned above are some of my all time favorites, like the Fifth Element, Spirited Away.. others like Baraka, and Kooyanqatsi (spell?) are also amazing. I actually got to watch Kooyanqatsi on the big screen with the director there to answer questions! The theater played the trilogy over a weekend.
I agree that Waking Life falls short, probably because its aims are too lofty.. and Ethan Hawke.. but it is visually entertaining and all the same thought provoking in my experience. I honestly loved what Linklater did with A Scanner Darkly, but unlike Waking Life I would not recommend it whilst tripping.
I also wanted to add DJ Q-bert's Wavetwisters. Not just an auditory adventure, the animation/visuals are well done and fun. [edit]
Obviously I missed the last page before I posted, sorry..
A little off topic, but not completely: One of the people interviewed in Waking Life, Caveh Zahedi, is a pretty interesting guy. It's like he's almost made the mushroom mythos mainstream, and what I mean by that is that in his films he tries to use himself or his art as a means of catalyzing/expressing the knowledge we all glean from psychedelic experiences. For example in "I Was Possessed by God," he eats a lot of mushrooms and sits in front of his camera.. I'm sure a lot of people on BL do that too and are wondering how the hell he made a career out of it! .. ha.. I like "I Don't Hate Los Vegas Anymore," where he tries to convince his father and step brother to take ecstacy with him.

Sorry.. I hope people find this interesting and it's not just me! I have an unhealthy appetite for film. And sorry for not bothering to spell Kooyanqatsi right.
This is turning into a great list of films!:D
