"People? Stop giving movies 1s. VERY FEW FILMS are actually a 1. This movie was NOT a 1. So stop being spiteful and whiney."

I felt ripped off.

I wanted the time I have lost to this empty trash back.

I love comic books, and I love movies, and I thoroughly enjoyed the first two X-Men movies (would give them 3 1/2 stars) but I neither enjoyed or found any pleasure in this movie (except for the one scene where magneto fucked the trucks up) The dialogue was laughably bad, the one liners were empty and silly.

It was a one for me, a two if I were high or drunk, and by that I mean not paying attention and drooling on myself.

They completely destroyed the dark phoenix saga. That alone is enough to kill it for me. THen on top of that there was absolutely no depth to any character. Every new character seemed tacked on ad added very little to the film.

All in all, not awful, as it was still entertaining, but it was incredibly disappointing

I actually really enjoyed it... wish I had read about the after the credits bit, and I would have stayed... oh well... looks like I'll have to go and see it again ;)

CB :)

man this movie disappointed me, and not because they changed plot and character elements from the comic to movies, i'm cool with that. what bothered me was the overall lack of "flow" to the movie. it seemed like a series of increasingly wild events that barely related together. the cavalier way major characters died with little fanfare (even a jerk off like cyclops) is also kind of whack. and the "cure" being used on magneto and rogue? c'mon this ruins the franchise for anyone else who might want to pick it up in a few years.

i was very high on the first two movies, but am not so much on this one. not awful, but not too good and it doesn't make sense within the context of the franchise as a whole.

here's hoping spiderman 3 doesn't get this fucked up.

What fun!

This was a great movie. A movie is great in my eyes when it finishes and I'm like "that seemed like it only went for 5 minutes!". I got so absorbed in it I hardly even shifted my position in my seat.

Yeah it's not rocket science but this was great, flashy, fun hollywood entertainment. I was really entertained :)

Damn you Brett Ratner...stick to Rush Hour films please.

I was severely disappointed after being excited for the first 5 minutes of the flick. After separating itself from the comic world and turning into X-Men movie world, I just felt sad. Now I know why Halle Berry agreed to do this 3rd flick, aside from her star not being so bright anymore.

That was such a great disappearing act by Nightcrawler too.

X-Men 3 (question and spoiler)

Okay I did a search but couldn't find any info on it, so...

I saw it last night, thought it was good. Everything I have heard about it was it was going to be the last one. Apparantly after I left the theatre, after the credits were over, there was a trailer/preview for another X-men movie. Just wondering if this is true and if anyone has seen it and what was in it.
I would love a fourth as I don't think Scott was actually killed and somehow I don't belive Prof. X died either...and well of course Magneto moving the chess piece with his "powers" that he apparantly lost.
So if anyone has seen the supposed trailer, can you fill me in?...thanks.

this chick in the middle is hawt!

It was pretty shit.

The first two were good because Singer obviously has a good handle on adapting comic books for the big screen. When he jumped ship, taking the good talent with him, this movie was fucked.

The action was mildly entertaining and everything else sucked balls. Extremely bad dialogue, narrative arc and characterization. These characters, which were pretty carefully shaped and developed in the last two movies, were run rough-shod over in the interest of advancing wacky plotlines.

Additionally, they totally fucked up the Phoenix concept. They didn't have to go with the alien entity angle, but giving the resurrection of Jean Grey some kind of mystical foundation would have been nice. And they changed a bunch of characters for no reason. Callisto's mutant detecting power was just made up for the convenience of the filmmakers in streamlining the plot.

When will directors realize that Halle Berry is only an asset when she is seen and not heard? When that bitch opens her mouth it's like giving every person in the audience a surprise enema.

Magneto's army of tattooed transsexuals was pretty terrible. Archangel got no screen time (I suspect this had to do with time/budget constraints, they almost certainly planned on featuring him more).

Where the fuck was Gambit!?!

Not a good movie.

Similarly, I was really perplexed why Logan had to kill the Phoenix. If he'd used one of the cure needles, Jean would have been saved??? In the end, I was looking for a happy ending... and having three of themain characters bumped off and another two removed of their powers didn't really give me the satisfying conclusion that I wanted.

i liked that she got killed in the end, i like that logan did it and that everything, then, was left with a disheartened feeling.
on not using the mutant cure... first- to similar to the 'end' of magneto and secondly then the happy-go-lucky, everything is perfect scene that came after the end of the war would have never have happened. the movie would have to continue and not be wrapped up in a pretty little box and bow. having a mutant use the cure on another mutant, one that is not empirically evil, just out of her/anyone's control, one that is a previous part and arguably still part in some ways of the x-men, and so on would have made other mutants angry and spark an uprising (realistically, or as realistic as this situation can be)

.

seriously, the watermelon on a stick needed her mouth taped shut.
and yes... where was gambit? (im such a nerd)
perhaps the evil mutant gene or something had a kick of testosterone because all the chick on magnetos side (except jean) looks like they had been beaten with the ugly (man) stick

SPEAKING OF GAMBIT.....

Lost star Josh Holloway landed the much sought-after role of Gambit in the next X-Men installation. Unfortunately the film will be without most of its previous stars—Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, and Hugh Jackman will not be featured—leaving producers to search for some hot new actors for the marquee.

Holloway previously landed the role of Gambit in X-Men: The Last Stand, but pulled out of the project at the last minute. This time, producers aren’t letting him get away.

The film’s producer Lauren Shuler Donner tells Moviehole, “Remember in Lost? There was a guy in there that was the perfect Gambit, the guy with the straight hair, good-looking, the bad boy… Sawyer. The reason we didn’t use Gambit was because in a sense his persona is a bit like Wolverine in that he’s got attitude and his power is not quite as exciting as the others. That’s why we went to Nightcrawler on 2 because he looked different than everybody else and he had a great power. So yes, I think we would weave Gambit within our story, (but) it wouldn’t be The Gambit Movie.”

Despite his success with Lost, Holloway’s film career failed to take off. He played “Lana's Toyboy” on the canceled Lyon’s Den, and also shined as “the purse-snatcher” in some Aerosmith video. Hopefully, this role can jumpstart his movie career.

is Josh Halloway that one dude in Heroes? actually, he would be a perfect Gambit.

I disagree with everyone saying this movie was shit. sure, it didn't match up to Bryan Singer's efforts, but it wasn't shit.

There never was one, or if there was it was scrapped a while ago. This particular X-Men cast and storyline is finished (with 3 installments), but they are working on a bunch of tangential projects involving principal characters like Magneto.

yeah i know of the single character focused spin offs, but another group film?

So, if that was the last "x-men" film, will the next story arch be labelled "the uncanny x-men" or some shit?

Finally watched this tonight on cable. I liked it :D I can watch any of the XMen movies over and over again when I catch it on cable.
Also, there were a couple of plot holes that left me a little underwhelmed. Rogue 'curing' herself took the wind out of my sails, purely because with the rescue of the bald-headed boy who's aura temporarily removed mutant abilities, it ultimately seemed like a futile act (in my own warped little mind, I imagined that the bald kid could sit in his bedroom reading comic books and listening to music really loud, so that Rogue and her boyfriend could have really freaky monkey sex in the next bedroom... uh, maybe that's just me)... but the point was that something could have been worked out.

Similarly, I was really perplexed why Logan had to kill the Phoenix. If he'd used one of the cure needles, Jean would have been saved???

+1 . Took the words outta my mouth.

Also....when I was watching that scene between Logan and Xavier about Jeans psyche I actually wanted to bitchslap L for being so fucking arrogant and nosy lol....and I didnt think X overreacted at all in fact, he handled himself pretty well, I didn't mind him saying "I don't need to explain myself to you" because fuck he really didn't HAVE to!" He was as civil and respectful as can be even when being goaded about his intentions towards Jean. Maybe I'm biased because L always rubs me the wrong way and I get annoyed with his character pretty quick ;) so I'm a bit surprised when I re-read this thread just now and saw others opinions that they thought X overreacted.

Thats just my lowly opinion tho and everybody else is entitled to theirs.=D

LOL! Totally. Actually, everytime she poises herself before wreaking havoc on a place I shudder a little bit ...especially when her eyes turn white and her nostrils start flaring. It's the embarassing kind of shudder too.

Man, am I a late-comer to this thread...

I only gave it three stars. True, I loved the F/X, and seeing some old favorites onscreen (Kitty, Colossus, Angel, etc.), but none of the rest really made sense. I'm with one of my geek friends on this one: pulling out the Dark Phoenix saga was bad news--the comic book version is too long and involved for the big screen, and divorcing the screen version from the comics would only result in something weird or nonsensical, which is exactly what happened.

The movie needed to make up its mind: would it be about the Phoenix, or about the mutant wars? Like most sequels, it decided to do both, which meant both stories suffered. And man, am I getting tired of apocalyptic battles involving hundreds of people running at each other, in which the main characters always get off without a scratch. Blah, blah, blah...

In sum, I think it's the weakest installment of the trilogy. For its flaws, the first one was at least consistent and honest, while the second was a great movie in its own right. I really, really expected more.

x3 is what happens when a good director passes the batton to a shitty one at the same time that the writers involved start getting lazy with the source material. fuck x3 for those reasons and more.

i'm still looking forward to the magneto and wolverine movies though, maybe they will be good.

the way they just mangled, killed and depowered integral characters without any regard for the future of the franchise confused me. i know the tag was "last stand" but how was that a satisfying conclusion?
