I liked this flick, give it 4 out of 5 stars... but there were plenty of weak points.
-I enjoyed the twist on the religious implications and how they tried so hard to make Achillies so human... but he's a fucking MYTH! Part of what made him great WAS the myth... it was the myth that allowed him to be remembered thorughout the ages. I didn't have to see the greek gods in the sky a la Clash of the Titans, but I would have liked to have had seen some better explorations into where all the myths were born of. For example, supposedly no weapon was able to cut Achillies. His armor was supposed to be unlike any other on the planet (covering WAAAAAAAY more than his chest, forearms, shins and head like the movie armor), as was his sword. The movie put him on the battlefield in a fucking leather skirt. A simple twist could have been that he had STEEL armor and weapons, instead of the bronze that everyone else had... steel would seem magical to those people, and would have easily made Achillies seem invunrable and wicked fast on the battlefield. But then of course, if you covered Brad Pitt in armor, his fans might get upset...
-Could they have had a WHITER cast? C'mon Hollywood, these are Mediteranian people here, not blue-eyed blonde haired northern europeans. Not to mention the men in this movie (aside from the old fuckers and Tyler Mayne >Ajax<) were shaved smooth as a babies ass. I know the ladies dig the hairless chest thing, but a man from this region, time and era should have body hair more like Robin Williams than Orlando Bloom.
