C'mon BL'ers - who else totally loves this flick?

I've always been a fan of James Spader, but I seriously dug him as an OCD dom. Of course, Maggie Gyllenhaal was fabulous.

And yes, I realize this isn't a new release or anything ;)

Yes, this movie is fucked up but great. I love it! It's so touching.. I love the end. Fucked up people can be happy!

It's a really cool movie, I watched it with a friend and she got hung up on the sexual aspect of the film.

How it was really unsexy of her to do that,
and how she wasn't attractive etc.

She missed the whole domination theme, but I enjoyed it.

Good movie.

Haha loved this movie. I have a penchant for watching hired movies while drunk so I can't remember all the finer details but can remember laughing a lot. This movie really suited my morbid sense of humour...

The domesticated/S&M ending was fucking classic :)

I think if you're actually into sm you can find a much firmer grasp on this movie. It's very ambiguous.....

are they two weak people who are finding vicarious self-realisation through one another? I think so. I think the guy/'dom' in the movie is actually submissive deep down and is just too much of a weeny to admit it, and the girl in the movie is actually dominant and is likewise too weeny to admit it. This is just my point of view, but I believe this is what the film was trying to say. Watch closely.

I just saw this the other day. Spankingly good, I must say. However, the ending was a little too hollywood for me; hunger strike, media interviews, bride running down the street to find true love, etc etc.

I enjoyed thid movie a great deal. Maggie Gyllenhal was stunning as the self-abusive woman who found love in brazen self-empowerment over the borderline James Spader. Screw borderline, Spader was flat-out crazy in this movie. StuffedTiger was correct. The over all theme of the film was two people tired of their respective roles forcing love intrests into submission through their same old tricks. I know from experience that people who assume the dominant role in a relationship do so in a (often subconscious) attempt to bring the other person out of their own submissive place. While the individual may not have this intention at the begining of the relationship, it almost always ends up this way.

If nothing else this movie gives hopes that no matter how fucked up one may be, there is always someone out there who would love you.

and Maggie Gyllenhal looks damn good nekkid.

Adios,
Steve

Yeah this movie totally kicked ass...

Loved all of the story adn subject matter, definately very well done. The actress was in my eyes, awwwesome, she has the most amazing voice. I want her voice! And she is a great actor aswell...

Got a little obsessed with it when i got it... :)

yup, it's a good movie.. very funny and you feel like they've changed through their experiences..

also note that maggie gyllenhal is jake gyllenhal's siter.. he was in a movie a number of bluelighters seemed to like called "donnie darko"..

If it's wrong, I don't want to be right!!!!

*orgasms while watching James Spader spank Maggie's ass*

Is it wrong that I was incredibly turned on by this movie?

You weren't the only one. ;)

I saw this movie with a guy who has some serious dom tendencies a few weeks ago. He resembles James Spader's character in many ways, though he's not an attorney and looks nothing like him.

I'm also a legal assistant (who has temporarily foresaken her field for another in an effort to make more bucks but is going back ASAP but you get the idea)...

and as much of a feminist as I am, and as confident in myself and my own abilities-- I still wanted James Spader to put that lovely collar apparatus on me and make me be the capable secretary on his terms.

I want to be teased like that, and intellectually I know better... I suppose that's why this movie got me so turned on.

I was kind of shocked by the way the movie turned out and strangely touched.

Funny enough, the guy I was watching it with is, in addition to being quite the dom, also somewhat of a film snob and "thought it lacked in character development because you just couldn't care about James Spader's character, he was too much of an asshole."

Go figure. ;) =D

I recommended this film to a lot of friends... hope they like it!

Maggie Gyllenhall is really hot and normally cutting totally puts me off but for some reason it didn't disturb be as much as usual.

And yes, in the US it is now on video. :)
