Pretty sure they showed 300 at Imax back when that was out. Even though it wasn't filmed with "Imax cameras".

Yup, 300 was shown in IMAX, and it was epic.
And so was The Dark Knight! Actually, it was fucking incredible. Way more incredible than I ever thought it could be.

Wow! This movie is already #3 on IMDB's Top 250. That is insane. I can't wait to see this several times this weekend. I've actually had creepy ass dreams about the Joker a month ago. Maybe actually seeing the movie will kick those crazy dreams up a notch.

I haven't seen it yet, but I wanted to quote a review of The Dark Knight from the movie review site Movie Cynics:

Of course, Heath Ledger is just as good as billed. Hell, if I gave a performance that good, I would kill myself too. How the hell can you hope to top Ledger’s nihilistic, sadistic, and completely unforgettable performance as The Joker? You can’t! Take some pills and go to sleep, comfortable in the fact that you just made yourself a legend. Nice call, Ledger. You rock!

Wow. Heath Ledger MADE this movie. As a comic book nerd, I really liked it in general, but Heath Ledger MADE this movie.

I cannot even begin to explain how awesome he was as the Joker. Me and my friend are convinced that he will be resurrected this Sunday and that today was basically his Good Friday. I seriously might make a WWHLD? bracelet. He topped Nicholson in my opinion (which is astounding), and if he does not get a post-humous award of some kind for this role, then something is seriously wrong. He was perfect.

But besides Ledger, this movie was REALLY well done. All the actors did an outstanding job, and the story was really well written. No cheesy dialogue that often manages to infiltrate comic book movies. Everything was top notch. I could not have asked for a better script. I am not sure if it was completely "ground-breaking" or what not (like other critics might be saying), but it did not need to be. The film completely survived on its own. I love the direction that Christopher Nolan went with this movie, and I am now insanely curious to see where they will go if (or when) another movie is made. The only thing I wish that would have been different, would be for it to have simply gone for an R rating. If The Joker was given free reign to wreak gruesome havoc, THEN, we might be talking about an epic movie. ;)

Overall, 4.5 / 5. Must-See!!

Movie was good, seemed a bit long and drawn out to me though.

Ironicly, even though i'm not at all a fan of his previous work Heath was spactacular in this movie. Best villain in any movie in years.

i have a rather innocent question to ask, so regular F&Tv posters, please don't flame me.

i've seen the "batman" with christian bale only once.....actually i was pretty stoned and fell asleep pretty early into the movie. i don't know much about it and will need a refresher before i see "dark knight".

my question is this: i thought "batman begins" was supposed to be sort of a precursor to the original keaton batman movie? kind of a 'how batman came to be' type movie? in the keaton flick, we all know the joker was created by falling into a tank of acid. assuming i understand the story of "batman begins" to be the precursor i mentioned above, how is it that the joker appears in "dark knight" when the character wasn't created until what would've been his late adulthood (keaton movie)?

i'm not trying to be a downer or whatever, it's a genuine question. i don't get all into movies and read reviews or frequent this forum for trailers and whatnot.

thanks!

^^ The storyline for 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' is a completely separate storyline from the Tim Burton movies with Michael Keaton. Basically, the audience is to pretend that those movies never happened.

While I don't think you would be completely confused if you saw 'The Dark Knight' right now, I would suggest you give 'Batman Begins' another viewing. It couldn't hurt ;)

Maybe I'm weird but Keaton was my favorite Batman ever and I've never really cared for Batman again after the two Tim Burton ones. Maybe this one will change my mind, but honestly I didn't care for "Batman Begins" either...

*shrugs*

Hands down, one of the best movies I have ever seen.

You're right on the money. Batman, and superheroes in general, are more of a general platform onto which writers can project storylines and interpret the meaning of the myth. I liked what one of the above posters said about superheros being the American equivalent to the myths of the Ancient Greeks, and I totally agree.

Yes, the general plot line of Batman is the same (orphaned at a young age, billionaire, very dark mind). However, these characters are more like vehicles for individual stories, which are then linked together within the broader franchise.

It sold out for the entire weekend, something that is absolutely unheard of in the town I live in. So much for me seeing it even once this weekend, let alone twice. :(
