Film: Matrix Revolutions [super merge] (trailer, predictions, spoilers, discussion)

Um, would it really be a suprise that Revolutions sucks?

Or did Reloaded just fly right over our heads and we're going to ignore the fact that that one is worth no more than toilet paper as well?

The first one was good. I expect no more of any of the matrix movies after that. They're either just cashing in on the success of the first, or they all of the sudden had a brain fart and just couldn't make a quality movie anymore.

I just came back from seeing it.

I think EVERYONE, even reviewers were hoping that the 2 sequels would be just like the first matrix: innovative, brilliant, mysterious, revolutionary....but the fact of the matter is...they already did that once. You can't possibly expect any following sequels of the series to be as revolutionary and brilliant as the first, if you do then you are really dumb.

I like Reloaded, I'm sorry if anyone else didn't. I didn't see anything wrong with these 2 sequels. Each movie elaborated and expand MORE on what the first matrix was based on, which is what should be expected...so we got that!? What the fuck is the issue? We got more "matrix time" slow action shots, we got this mysterious enigma which is the matrix that we are trying to figure out, we got more about Zion, we got more AMAZING visual effects, and the story continued as it should. Seriously, there should be no complaints.

I liked Revolutions. It was just fine. It did live up to what the Wachowski Brothers said it would be. They said that Revolutions would answer any unsolved questions and that it would have THE MOST amazing FX battle sequence ever put on film, and by god they sure did that. The story continued and went on a steady path and never went into a horrible tangent which was just plain dumb. The movie was just as it should be. Is it the best movie ever!? No, but it's a good movie and it did a fine job, all 3 of them did.

Too bad if you guys don't like it. I'd really like to see you come up with all the shit they came up with and make 3 movies as well as put it all together. This world is spoiled, because we always want more and better, and when we don't we get pissed.....so what if "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" weren't as REVOLUTIONARY as "The Matrix".....one revolution in cinimatography from these guys and this series is enough for me.

Thats just my 2 cents tho

*SPOILERS* Matrix: Revolutions (any questions still remaining?)

*****************SPOILERS*****************

DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYTHING RUINED!!!!!

I only have 2 questions.....

1. Why the fuck would the "boss" machine allow the human race to survive just because Neo helped the machines out from being exposed to Smith!? I mean, yeah the Machine promised to give world peace if Neo helped destroy Smith, but after Smith is destroyed and Neo is dead what is stopping the machines from going and winning the war!? They obviously don't have human feelings or compassion...they are fucking peices of metal. I just don't understand by the machines "kept there promise."

2. So what the hell happened in the very end!? Neo died, so did Smith, and now balance has been achieved and The Matrix has been reset with complete balance because there is no Neo (Good) and no Smith (Evil), so they canceled each other out. So when the Oracle talks to the Architect and asks if the ones who want to be released will be allowed to leave, and the Arichitect says "Clearly they will be"...again WHY!? Why do the machines have to listen....if the humans are what keeps the machines alive (by using them as batteries) then why the fuck are they going to allow them to leave? I guess this connects to my first question.

I'm just slightly confused, a tad.

I'm confused too, why did you start a 3rd topic about this movie? :\
The other 2 threads weren't worthy of your analysis?

hooray for being in a really cool time zone...

anywho..

visuals: 10 (eyes are still bleeding)
sound: 9
story: 6.5 even though I already knew before the film what would happen, it just doesnt "complete§ the movie. the better ending would have been something off the wall or strange rather than a typical hollywood ending.

pros: the pictures are really pretty

cons: the whole thing throughout the movie "we believe in you Neo" or "Neo is our only chance" thing kinda sums up the story in a sentence fragment.

::::do see it if you saw 1 & 2:::::

:::::don't see it if you wanna walk straight afterwards:::

Since there's no spoiler-warning in the other thread I will post my thoughts here.

"philosophy? What philosophy? I've seen more philosophy in an episode of married with children!"

A qoute from an IMDB-comment. IMHO it pretty much sums it up. As far as visuals go, the effects were great. For the ending of the Matrix-trilogy however I feel we are entitled more than just great visuals. If I wanted great visual effects I'd watch Captain Nemo.

It's late and I'm tired, so I won't write much. The film is filled with action scenes, some pretty good, but in the end it gets tedious. There is nothing of innovativity in any other parts of the film. It is extremely easy to predict what will happen next. No schocking plot twists, no deep philosophy.

The dialogue often seems to be a work of a three-year old. Actually, a three-year old would have done a better and less predictable job. Often it's just extremely repetitive. It all follows a linear path. Horrible plot and dialogue. The scene where Niobe is chased heading to Zion is just a 20-minute wait for how she will get back, not if. Of course the ship is saved at the very last moment. the sentinels inside Zion killed with the EMP which gives Neo juuuuust enough time to perform his "miracle" and save Zion. I won't even go in to the very end scene. Cheesy, ultra-hollywood crap at it's very finest. It doesn't close the door to a sequel either (I understood it was supposed to?). On the way home me and my friends joked about Matrix becoming the new Friday the 13th, with movie after movie coming out. But hey, that won't happen (thank god), since the Wachowskis said it's the last movie. At least I hope so. They've fattened their wallets enough, especially with this load of crap (Reloaded was watchable and still retained significant parts of the first film IMHO).

Most importantly it doesn't really IMHO give any answers or fit in with the rest of the matrix-plot.

The machines gave Zion/the humans freedom in exchange for the destruction of Agent Smith (who is by far the most entertaining in the whole movie, the only one who's dialogue is well-written and executed). In the process Neo dies/ceases to exist as the One.

Given the thinking of the machines, they could easily do and destroy Zion. Why should they give the humans their freedom and allow Zion to continue existing? With Neo and Smith out of the picture, they could just send a million sentinels down there and wipe Zion out forever.

If they give freedom to all humans that want out (which should mean all humans), how can the machines continue to exist? As I understood it they fed from human bodies. Even if the Matrix was just for programmes, how could it continue with the machines dead?

Anyways, I will stop ranting. It sucked. 3/10 I give it, and most of it because of the special effects. Sorry for poor wording and grammar, but it's late and I'm tired. My mind is slow after being in the Matrix for two long hours...

there's a matrix revolutions thread already running. i'm going to merge this. please search (or at least glance down the main page) before posting in future.

I'm guessing you've never seen Godfather, Part II.

You probably wouldn't like it.

No one says "Whoa" or anything.

I thought it was good, sure it had parts I liked and didn't like, as did the second one, but when the DVD for Reloaded came out, I watched it and skipped the parts I didn't like, watched the parts I did and the story got better.

I suspect the same thing will happen when the last one comes out on DVD

*** SOME SPOILERS ***

I thought parts of it were really great, the battle for zion was pretty entertaining, Agent Smith's character was great as usual, I wished they had more of the french guy (the malvarean, or whatever his character's name was) He was a big part of the plot in the middle but got completely left out of the end, the love story was pretty touching, but again, the end kinda leaves you with a *what the fuck* though, as i figured it would.

I guess the machines (as in the architect) would release those who wanted to be released because if they didn't the matrix would be stuck with the variables (neo, morpheus, trinity, etc) over and over again.

The underlying theme (as was mentioned in the second when neo was talking to the head council member) that the people and the machines depended on eachother, neither could live without the other, and I think both sides finally realized that.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents for now.

^^^

ugh...the french guy was about as annoying as Jar Jar Binks.

i was really expecting a very left-field plot twist to finish this up, something along the lines of MIB II meets The Truman Show.

like, the shot pans to a bunch of strange alien adolescents playing a video game in their living room...agent smilth dies, the matrix is destroyed or whatever, and the alien teens go, "what do you want to play next"?

:\

I liked it.. and don't feel like defending my opinion... frankly.. i like the love story, i like the eye candy... each movie in the triology appeals to various aspects of me.. i was originally attracted due to the philosophy of it.. but there's more to movies than deep thinking 100% of the time.

Upon first seeing it, I didn't like it. Now that I've thought about it for a couple of hours, it's starting to grow on me. The movie wound up in a way I didn't predict... although the ending was a little cut short, it seemed. I liked how the movie was a great degree darker than the first two... our heroes can indeed die like everyone else.

The Zion battle was cool, but I think that some other scenes (Mobil Ave, the whole Hell Club scene, and especially the Neo/Bane fight) were a lot better.

Was it just me, but was the bullet time not used much at all? I know most of the movie was real-world, but even the matrix scenes seemed very real-time.

Not as spectacular or as memorable as the previous two, but I think I like the direction it took, and it's a nice way to end the trilogy.

The other 2 threads weren't worthy of your analysis?

Because the others are "predict what will happen" threads.

Since it's finally here, a thread for reviews or discussion on the actual movie seemed appropriate. Tacking it to the end of a predictions thread seems like it would stifle conversation rather than promote it.

Although I've actually decided to wait until video to see it.

anyone else notice that when Neo died in that blast of light .. that when his body started to split apart by the light.. if initiatially was in the shape of a crucifix?

^
good call, DD.
I just got in from watching it, and I'm all Matrix'd out.
Will write summary tomorrow.

yeah the 3rd movie really does beat you over the head w/ the Neo vs Christ paralelle. I cant be possitive untill i see it again, but im pretty sure someone refered to him as the Messiah8o

I really liked this film. I liked it a great deal better than reloaded. The action scenes were phenomenal and being prepared for the worst story imaginable i was pleasently suprised.

Am i the only one who wants to throw up every time the Oracle speaks??

I'll post more after i see it again:)

This thread is for People who saw MATRIX 3

Post all the spoilers you want, since people who didn't see it shouldn't be in here.

I am a little lost on the ending...

Do you think they will make a 4th? They didn't quite give me enough closure...

WHat happens to the humans inside the matrix? Does NEO rein again? Your thoughts...

The humans were told the truth and offered the ability to leave as they wish. Neo died, you saw him being carried off Gladiator style and apparently you saw him float away in his machine vision, with wings, but I was too stoned when I saw it to remember it :(. I don't think there's any chance of a 4th, everyone involved has said that it's the end of the Neo story, and I can't see what they'd be able to make a sequel about.

Most people have said that the movie didn't answer enough questions... but what exactly was left unresolved?
