Film: Matrix Revolutions [super merge] (trailer, predictions, spoilers, discussion)

I thought that despite the melodrama and blatant cliche's, it was still pretty cool. I liked it about 1 million times more than the matrix reloaded, and it was definitely worth the $6. It's not a masterpiece of cinema or anything, but its still a pretty good sci-fi flick.

i saw this movie last night, i didnt think that highly of it kinda glad its over but i know its not. hollywood is like vampires and will suck this bitch dry. but there was alot fo religious connotations, kinda annoying. the ending was somewwhat believable and the dialague was really stupid. but i guess since i like the story so much i cant tell myself thast it was crappy so i dunno it was a decent movie.

The movie was released 3 days ago, what did you think this thread was going to be about? :\

I liked Revolutions better than Reloaded, too. It was a little slow at first, but it gradually picked up to a climactic ending. I wish the producers would have made the ending a little less predictable, but I still liked it.

I didn't care too much for the fight scenes where Smith & Neo are fighting in mid-air. I dunnno, that just seems tacky. I'd much rather see them fight on ground as opposed to floating around in free space. I didn't think there was enough hand to hand combat in this movie though. There was alot more gun fights in this one, not enough real fighting scenes. (oh, about the gun scenes, why is it that people have the worst possible aim when they're using 2 fully automatic weapons?)

The ending, eh, I think it could have been better. I didn't like the way Neo went out, and how all the Smiths exploded. But the final breaching of the dock by the machines was outstanding. Watching the robots gun down the sentinels as they poured through the hole was awesome.

What becomes of Seraph, Morpheus, Naiobe and crew?
What happens to the Oracle and The Architect?
Do they just live on in the free world?

Oh, Im sure there are others I'm missing.
I wasnt too fond of the ending actually, I just think it could have been done differently for greater effect.

About a 4th installment:
The closing scene, where the little Indian girl asks the Oracle if she'll ever see Neo again, and the Oracle says "Oh, something tells me we'll be seeing Neo again.." kind of lets on that something *may* happen.

again I must add....

Why the fuck did the machines keep a promise!? Why didn't they just go kill Zion after Neo died? What stopped them??? It doesn't make sense.

But I think thats what the matrix series boils down to. It's so open ended with it's interpretations because it's about "choice" and they kinda throw that theme out at us by making us "choose" what we think the movie is "really about"....or maybe I'm just taking this a tad too far.

HOW DID THE SMITHS EXPLODE???
i have several theories..
#1-- The Oracle, as well as everyone else incorporated into the Smith virus, fought him from within..
#2-- Neo has able to destroy him without touching him, matrix-esque telekinesis?
#3- the combined power of the machine world tapped into Neo was able to make him explode
#4- a combination of the above 3.

active matx is a cheater!!

the machines didn't kill zion after neo died because they kept their promise to neo. that promise was that if neo beated smith they would have peace.

neo killed smith, the machines freed the humans and they all lived happily ever after

the architect said "there are levels of survival we're willing to accept".. which is telling me there's a lower form of life they can accomplish without the humans for energy..

I have a few responses:

To the machines keeping their promise and not continuing the attack on Zion: The machines are obviously more than just machines, they have a collective consciousness, the 'Source' that drives all the machines to work in a cohesive manner. They also have an individuality, because of the renegade and exile programs. And the machines can't survive without programs to run them, so they are all connected together.

They have 'feelings' as was indicated by the conversation between Neo and the gentleman at the train stop. I believe that they didn't violate the agreement because they 'feel' that peace is best for both of them. The machines can continue to use the humans to maintain power, and those humans who want to be freed, will be freed. So now the 'Matrix' is no longer a system of control of slaves. It's simply a reality where those who are too indulged in their own fantasy (or unwilling to let go) can remain.

So if all humans are set free: There is still the peace between the human and the machines, so they could work together to create a new form of power. It's not like science and technology has remained static during this war, and it definately won't once the humans and machines are working together. There are many possibilities. Maybe internal fusion devices in the machines...... I don't know, but I'm sure they would think of something.

The Smiths exploding: I believe that it was a combination of Neo's power and the shock that the Source gave him (a power surge? a virus-killer code that counteracted the effect of smith?) that was the cause of the destruction of the Smiths. (It sounds like I'm talking about the destruction of a band :))

i dont think you're taking it too far at all. imo the people who cant handle this movie are those who have to everything wrapped up i a neat little package. as to your questions about the machines keeping their promise, i have no fucking idea. in fact i find that to be one of the more troubling things about the picture.

i'm in total agreement that a machine making any sort of honor based arrangement is totally unacceptable. perhaps the real question is what becomes of the machines if they stick to the agreement. what becomes of their race? does the human race regain control and eventually repeat history?

perhaps because the machine-god *CHOSE* to keep the agreement.

Whoa.

Bleh this movie was good eye candy but overall a shattering disappointment.

How did Neo manipulate machines in the real world?
How did Smith transport himself to reality?

Big questions that we were told to "not worry about they will be answered in 3" when we were all perplexed over Reloaded...

But nada. Nothing.

Matrix 1 was awesome, Reloaded and Revolutions = t3h $uck.

too be honest...

I don't think anyone knows the answers "not even the creators of the movie"

because there are none...

sorta like the bible... you are just given information -- that sounds so wacked, but you are to believe it in "faith"

so I suppose if you have faith that neo can control machines in the real world, then he can....

no logical answer, he just can - cause its a movie, and if we try to reason with it, we will never be sure, cause there will never be someone to give us the correct answer (unless they make a 4th with a damn good script)

idunno. Stinks of lazy scriptwriting in my opinion..

Cinema Goer:
"Dude...that makes no sense at all. AT ALL!"

Larry Warchowski:
"That is the point of the Matrix. Is there a point? You Choose. Jesus Chose..is Jesus Neo? Choose the fate...of faith"

Cinema Goer:
"what....make sense...my god you talk jibberish"

Larry Warchowski:
"My God you say? 'my god'? what if your God is really a machine?"

Cinema Goer:
"oh fuck off Larry.."

its funny how ppl were expecting the answer to all of lifes questions from the 2nd and 3rd movies...

Saw it yesterday. What a horrible film! The whole film is a 2 hour action sequence. They should have just added an extra 20 minutes on the end of reloaded. I loved the first one, was disappointed with 2, and 3 although I expected it to be like 2 I wasn't prepared for a dialogue less action sequence that boarded on the edge of boring.

The machines don't destroy Zion because they made a promise, and machines don't break promises. The architect, I beleive, says something about it near the very end.

Seraph, The Oracle, The Architect et al all live in the new matrix as they did before, and Niobe, Morpheus and crew all live outside the matrix, in the rubbish heap that is Zion.

I believe Smith exploded once he entered Neo, thus giving the machines access to the Smith code, via Neo, and exploding him good.

I think that Smith exploded cos he was a program and he was designed to be deleted that way - remember when he said "everything that has a beginning has an end" when he was in the mud with Neo he was all cocky cos he thought he saw or prophesised that he was about to destroy Neo. What he didn't take into account was that Neo has the luxury of free will, and thats why Smith shit his pants, when he realised this and saw that Neo would sacrifice himself in order to destroy/delete Smith.

Thats just what I think, who agrees/disagrees/thinks I'm on crack? =D

If anyone paid attention in the second movie (i know, it wasn't easy) when neo and the eldest council member were talking he explained that they needed the machines to purify the water and to keep them warm and without them the people would die. I think the machines realized that they are as dependent on the people as the people are on the machines, thus they decided peace was better.

I want to know why the twins weren't in the third movie, and why the malvengian (whatever the french guy's name was) didn't have a bigger part, those three were some of my favorite characters.
