Why do I want to see it? Well, it looks like it has a good story line. I tend to really dig comic book hero stuff (btw X-men I & II were good movies!) And most importantly, the special effects look kick ass. Granted animated special effects is what I want to do for a career, but still the visual look of the trailers looks stunning to me.
 
This movie will not even make half of its budget. Who ever gave this flim the green light is gonna get kicked off the lot. That big fuckin red monster just looks so corny. They could have atleast given him more of a edge besides just the "how do i kill it" lines & big guns. The title alone begs for redicule...........this movie will sux huge Tommy lee sized cock!

Okay I just read the premise for this movie. The red monster is the child of the devil he comes to earth to destroy it but meets this old guy who teaches him to fight for good! Goddamn this movie is gonna kill soooo many peoples career.
 
I saw it tonight at a free sneak preview, I thought it was great. I didn't know anything going in about the story, I didn't know it was a comic book, I hadn't even seen a preview.

The writers made the Hellboy character very human, he has a really funny, droll sense of humor. The special effects were cool, and all of us in the theater thought the coolest character was Rasputin's sidekick, this guy was amazing with these big knife/sword type things.

Selma Blair is so yummy. :)
 
I think it looks hella cool, and all I've read are some production thingys and a couple of 'coming kinda soon' things.
Ron Pearlman is awesome and rarely attaches his name to crap. I'm betting on it kicking ass.
 
Well the Mike Mignola comic is excellent...so if the writers drafted a script with a fraction of the humor and intelligence of the comic then this will be a kick ass movie. I'll be seeing it tonight for sure.
 
looks even worse than that other film with the blind-superhero, daredevil or whatever it was called

saw far too many explosions in my short life already, not the 90s anymore, special effects alone wont attract me to a movie
 
First weekend out all the comic book geeks will go see it and after that it will slip 5 spots each week. To sum it up in one word BOMB!

The Punisher on the other hand looks very good. Has Travolta going back to his evil witty bad guy days %) ala swordfish & BrokenArrow

Well actually he was found as a boy when he was sent here from hell..........by that man who found him, turned him into a good person.......So he has devilish powers but is a hero.....havent seen it yet but from the sounds of the comic readers they think it will be good

Remember what happened last time they attempted turning "The Punisher" into a movie? It blew.
 
i'm gonna have to go against the tide here.. i haven't seen punisher and have only seen hellboy on really bad quality divx. but i have a really bad feeling about punisher. it probably will be along the lines of swordfish, which was one of the worst movies i've ever seen.. the only thing that could have made it worse was a paul oakenfold soundtrack. oh wait, it did have a paul oakenfold soundtrack.

hellboy on the other hand is tightly plotted, funny, intelligent, well-acted and full of great special effects.. there's lots of action but it all seems to serve a purpose.

and as mentioned it has selma blair (swoon). it probably did get the green light for funding on the basis of the success of the x-men movies, but it compares favorably. in some ways its a little better because it doesn't take itself quite as seriously.
