Radiohead have written their first film score - for the adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel Choke reports Pitch Fork Media.

The band were initially only going to write the theme song for the film, out in November and made by first-time director, actor Clark Gregg. But they then agreed to write the whole score.

The "Fight Club" author said in an interview with BBC 6 Music Radiohead got involved after learning Palahniuk obsessed over their album Pablo Honey while writing his novel.

"Clark Gregg [the film's director]...knew that I'd written Choke while listening to Pablo Honey, with 'Creep', over and over and over. So Clark got Radiohead to contribute a song; to write a song for the very end of the movie, the final credits. Apparently Radiohead liked the movie so much, they've written the score, most of the ambient music throughout it. So it's 'Choke-- with the music of Radiohead'" says Palahniuk.

...it appears Radiohead did nothing more than lend In Rainbows track "Reckoner" to the film. According to a Radiohead rep, "No one in the Radiohead organization is aware of the band composing any original, incidental, or ambient music for Choke. They only know of 'Reckoner' being used over the end credits."

So it would seem Mr. Palahniuk is either very confused, or totally making shit up.

how odd!

I'm really looking forwards to this, Choke's one of my favourite Palahniuk books. The red band trailer is much more fun than the green band one though. Here's a link to the red band trailer as you seem to have to sign up on the fox searchlight website if you want to watch it there

he's one of my favorite author's... i love how his characters tend to be disgusting people, but because we get to know them so well we almost forgive and accept them. i can't see this soon enough. i hope it does the book justice.

the trailor seems a lot like the book. i'll keep my fingers crossed for the movie.

ive seen it
im not gonna say anything

Spoiler alert
NSFW:
the book was way better, nothing went in order and i was a bit disappointed.....but overall it was entertaining

^
i was afraid of that. the previews make it look like a bit of a clusterfuck, does it end up being one?

i might go see it this week.

i'm going this weekend. i've been really looking forward to this one... i hope i'm not disappointed. but, is the movie ever better than the book? i can't think of an example where this was true.

I can only think of one, The Notebook, but that's because I think all of Nicholas Sparks' books are poorly-written pieces of shit.

in response to your spoiler not really, i dont think

ugh! it's no longer being shown at my local theater. (only 2 weeks, wtf!) i don't really have the time now to make the treck out to the city to catch it. i may have to wait for the dvd on this one. i'm disappointed.

^^

I made sure that I went and saw it. There was no chance that I was going to miss out... I'm pretty sure I saw it in the last week it was on screens over here though... it didn't have a hugely long run...

^^

Yeah. I made a post about it in this thread, that got eaten by the upgrade...

It hit my expectations, except for the ending, but then I haven't re-read the book in quite a long time so had forgotten how it was meant to go, so wasn't too disappointed, but all in all, definitely top stuff :)

CB :)

Hmm, it was OK. I gave it 3/5.

I don't really like Sam Rockwell too much for some reason, but there were some good moments from him. And as ever Angelic Huston was brilliant. I <3 her.

But yeah, I feel it didn't go into too much detail, and there was a lot missing from the book. They could have done so much more with it, but as it stands, it's just one of those 'worth a look' movies imo. Nothing more. :\

^you know i didnt know that Angelica Houston was in it until the I saw it because I didnt want to ruin anything. she did do a great job. the part with the chocolate pudding though made me gag a little lol

I liked it, but even after reading lackluster reviews i was still a bit disappointed. What carried Fight Club so well was narration with Chuck's little quips and such, and this film left that out entirely. I didn't care too much for the actress playing Paige or whatever her name is.

Book is far superior.
