Compared to all the other crap out there movie-wise, this version of batman FINALLY has respect for the audience. I will definitely see it again.

This movie was excellent. My expectations were kind of high because I think Bale is an interesting and great actor; and this movie passed them up. Great action, some light comedy at times, and I had to love the hallucinogenic chemical scenes.

But, to be fair, I don't think Batman with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson can be beat. That was the best batman movie I've ever seen, mainly because Jack Nicholson plays a hilarious and insane joker.

I expected it to be pretty good because of the cast and the director. I knew it would piss all over the campy and somewhat ambiguously gay sequels (hey if Michael Jackson can walk, I guess Bruce Wayne can do whatever he wants to Robin).... BUT I did not expect this film to surpass the original Burton/Keaton Batman, but in my humble opinion it did just that. I couldn't have been more pleased. The use of Carmine Falcone from Miller's Batman: Year One, as well as a young Jim Gordon and Detective Flass ought to satisfy the hardcore comic fans. The inclusion of three credible villians (Scarecrow, Ra's al Ghul and the League of Shadows, and Falcone) could have become a clusterfuck, but the plot lines were handled quite well. The origin and Bruce Wayne's pre-Batman journey were my favorite parts of the film..... altogether, I can't say enough good things about it.

Anyone want to bet that Fantastic Four will not even be one quarter as entertaining or thought provoking (the trailer makes me shudder).....?

You know, thanks to the introduction of Falcone and the likelihood of two more sequels, they could flesh out a more in-depth reintroduction/recreation of Harvey Dent as the Gotham City DA and his legal fight against organized crime in the next film followed by the "birth of Two-Face" with the infamous mob trial where his face takes an acid bath from a mobster on the stand in the subsequent film.

Given the allusion to the him in the sequel, I wouldn't doubt it if the Joker was reintroduced for the sake of a fresh new line of continuity, but I feel that nothing could ever top Jack Nicholson's potrayal. I think he was spot on in capturing the insane playfulness of the Joker and how he treated the lives of others as punchlines.

If any villain could use a redux, it would definetely be Two-Face. Joel Schumacher and Tommy Lee Jones were equally responsible for ruining that character. Two-Face was an evil, hateful, and cold-blooded criminal who lived and died by the 50-50 chance of the coin, not an over-the-top, campy lunatic with a flair for the dramatic. It's really pathetic that he was much better portrayed in Batman: the Animated Series than in the Batman Forever.

This movie rocked. It was a typical action comedy with a dark undertone. I'd give it three stars, nothing GROUNDBREAKING but certainly more then entertaining and an overall good movie. I don't know what physix is talking about, but his review is fucking wack. Had some great character developement, coreography, and some one liners to keep the mood light for the kids. I'd go see this movie again anytime. I liked albas character even through she was a raging bitch, he should have hit that at the end.

I couldn't really tell what was going on cause I was at a drive in watching it, and the screen looked really dark, but it was pretty good. I'm not a big superhero movie fan, but this one kept me interested.

Fantastic Four will simply be a bigger budgetted
version of the B-movie that was done long time
ago...

it'll be really pretty.... but that's it.

I absolutely loved this movie... loved it to death. I didn't want it to end, but alas, it had to. I gave this one four stars, which for me is impressive, as I can't stand most super hero movies. This surpassed every other batman, and I thought Bale was PERFECT as Bruce Wayne/batman. I'll go into more detail later.

Saw this a second time the other night with my brain in a frying pan and the dialogue stood out as absolutely flawless. Intimidated the shit out of me and my dream of ever writing anything good. The perfect Batman film. Kinda made me hope they don't do any more.

I fuckin' loved this movie. I went to see it with my brother, and both of us were in the midst of reading Frank Miller's Batman comics: "The Dark Knight Returns", "Year One", and "The Dark Knight Strikes Again". As a result, we both geeked out several times while watching it - it was wonderful.

I thought the story and flashbacks were very well done - they actually explained thoroughly how Batman came to be, as opposed to expecting the audience to just accept some orphan running around dressed like a giant bat.

While Adam West will always have a special place in my heart, Christian Bale did very well. Intimidating as Batman, awkward as Bruce Wayne.

Michael Caine was a smashing Alfred - fantastically dry (actually, most if not all the humour was very dry in this movie, which I found hilarious but seemed to fly right over the heads of the early teens in the audience).

Katie Holmes' role as a DA and love interest was the only downfall, but that's to be expected.

yeah you could definetely see the shout outs to Frank Miller. I've read "Returns" and "Year One" and those were fabulous. I have "Strikes Again" but have not yet read it.

Frank Miller has had a lot of creative influence in Hollywood with his comics. I LOVE it! I only wish that lots more future comic-to-movie movies will feature at least a little touch by Miller. He is a genius.

Word to that. I think I'm going to be up all night after watching this movie, I really didn't know what to expect and deliberately avoided reading reviews but this has to be the best movie I have seen this year. The characters were absolutely wonderful (except for Katie Holmes who was quite average, but she had her place). I braced myself for the long haul in the beginning but constantly found myself being engrossed in the story, and by the time Batman actually appeared I almost wanted to stand up and cheer. Very well timed.

I agree that I never really got the sense of "villany" from Ras or Scarecrow alltho both actors were fab!

Christian Bale was just plain menacing as Batman, I think the voice change worked damn well. Like someone said previously - you know you would not want to piss him off.

Also Gotham City was fantastic, gritty and real!

I am ecstatic that this has surpassed the original Keaton/Burton films. At the end this might just be labelled as another action superhero movie, but its excells in what it is, and that at the end of the day is pure and utter entertainment.

Damn, I'm going to have to see this again, its like 1989 all over again!!!

only movie i've ever went to the theatre twice for to see. i wanted to give it 5 stars cuz that just sounds right for this flick. or maybe 5 points of a star?
