FIFA World Cup 2010 Feat. The Darling Harbour big screens = good time Event

im speechless...

that being said... it hit his arm... it would of been a goal... it was a red card offense...

this is where we need to show that aussie ticker...

its all out attack for the last 25 mins if we dont score in the first 20...

WE HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE...

we did well.

you cant blame ref's, you cant blame Pim... In the end it was our poor defense that lead to the Ghana goal... it was so identical to the 1st German one... i cringed...

again... where to start

This is soccer (football).

Holman, you started so well, i honestly dont think you played from the second harry was sent off. you were getting the ball looking the wrong way...

Our backline was amazing, Carney and Wilkshire hats off to them. Carney didnt start great, but he came into his own as the game rolled on. Neill and Moore, strong, communicated and didnt play that stupid offside trap.

Valeri IMHO was our best player, the bloke was everywhere and besides a few loose passes didnt do anything wrong. I love Culina, and he did well too, but he was a pace behind. Again Emerton was strong, as Busty pointed out, he is playing for a contract, he doesnt want to come back to the A-League. Bresciano provided the control we needed on the left that we lacked in the last game. He was FILTHY when he was taken off, which kinda gets the media worked up to start writing about in-fighting...

Kewell, for the 25 mins he was on... did what he does best... he had 2 men on him... he was the intimidating player that he is for us... he took dives and tried anything to get us a goal...

The replacements... Chipperfield, shocked me, im happy they didnt take Carney off... Kennedy, was unlucky... he had it all over the back 2. Nikita didnt really get a chance, the one chance he did get to use his speed the keeper beat him.

the last 25 mins is where we missed Tim Cahill... the spark, the invisible man... It hurt us, Mr Reliable wasnt there. If he was there, we would of won, i have no doubt.

there couldnt be a bigger wall infront of us now... but the never say die attitude could get us thru it... im not confident, but never say never

the next thing to look at is... who is manager for the next 4 years, to get us thru Asia as strong as we did, and build a "going to be" young team...

They said before the game, we have the 2nd oldest team... the problem i feel which all the commentators said... our depth doesnt have the same high quality as our 1st team does...

The time is now for those 2nd teir players to step up... Getting into 1st division high quality teams... We need to build a new backbone that is going to be as strong as the one we have had for the last 5-6 years. We are looking at losing our core... Schwarzer, Neill, Moore, Chipperfield, Grella, Culina, Bresciano, Kewell... Cahill and Emerton will be close to being on their last legs...

But the future does look bright if players like Wilkshire, Valeri and Kennedy grow. The keeper situation scares me... There is a young kid playing in the Liverpool Reserves Dean Bouzanis that is suppose to be great, hopefully he can mature in the next 4 years. We have quality backs, its getting the confidence within them that will be the hard part.

/end drunk/fucked up rant...

^nice wrap up. I was so drunk I have nothing to add. How I got so hammered just drinking golds all night I don't know. I watched the reply of the red card. Wow. I didn't know that was a red card offence. Pisses me off. Makes me not enjoy watching international soccer when these things continually happen. You wouldn't see that in the A league (yeah, yeah...but I enjoy it. Not as much diving or acting). Epl, maybe but I doubt it.

Big third game for aus!!!!! Need plenty of luck tho.

Go NZ tonight!!!!!! Big hopes to beat Italy......

Penalty sure, red card no. It was clearly not deliberate... The refs could at least be consistent. Did Vidic get sent off against Germany for his handball in the area? No. Did Kuzmanovic get sent off against Ghana for his handball in the area? No. :p

but those balls went flying into the back of the net, that is what is the main thing here... if his hand was not there, it was a goal.

Intentional or not... it was given.

Exactly Chops. If the penalty had been saved there would have been no justice. Unfortunate yes, but the only fair way to deal with the situation. If it was a rugby game they would have awarded a penalty try. A fairer penalty would be perhaps a sin bin. What makes it more tragic for Australia is that it was their great saviour who misses the last game.

The 4 goal trouncing in the first game has now become a real problem due to goal difference. I don't really see Germany thrashing Ghana in their last game.

Yeah I said the penalty was fair enough, but I can't see how it can be justified as deserving a red card. You may just say they're biased, but here's Kewell and Pim's opinions: Referee has killed my tournament: Kewell

It's the inconsistency of the refereeing that I find irritating. We played a great game with 10 men though, very impressive :)
