festivals 2010

Does anyone have any good recommendations for any small, local-type festies? Am planning on glade (loveitloveitloveit) and boomtown (cos its local and never been before) but it would be nice to fit in a few others this summer. I do love a good festival :)

They announced some of the Exit line-up today. Chemical Brothers, Ricardo Villalobos, Josh Wink, Moderat, Royksopp are the ones I can remember. I can't be fucked going looking for a link.

Exit was amazing last year, nothing quite compares to watching the sun come up over the Dance Arena with about 15000 muddy, sweaty bastards raving around you. Good droogs were pretty hard to come by, but then things seem to be looking up everywhere at the mo. Josh Wink would be worth it alone I reckons.

Found out yesterday that a conference I have to present at for work and Glade don't coincide, so looks like I'll be heading to that again this year =D

My manager stated that a week is plenty of time to unfry your brain and return to earth and be in order for the conference. Sounds like a wager to me =D

Festivals - This Summer

So who's got what planned then? ... Just curious like.

I'm pretty sure that I will be getting tickets to the Big Chill this year and maybe, just maybe Shambala as it is down the road from where I live.

If anyone has been to Shambala or can suggest any other decent festivals that plays a good mix of old / new dance music, I would be glad to hear reccomendations ...

glade is the best you can get in the uk as far as electronic music festivals go, best music, best vibe, best crowd, sorted.

i'm off to glade and boomtown fair this year <3

Yeah I'm hitting up glade, hopefully will bump into some BLers whilst I'm spannered and on a chatting absolute codshit mission :D. It's literally just up the road for me as well :D.

Thinking about waveform as well, last year it was a nice festival but I was in a shite situation when I went so it sort of negated it a bit.

Can anyone recommend a good trance festival? I do know about Google but it's always better to get up-to-date opinions I think.

In terms of UK then I would say Global Gathering in Stratford-upon-avon is your best bet. SW4 is a day only event in London which has a trance arena, but has suffered due to noise restrictions.

Big Chill here. :)

Did Global Gathering a couple of years ago and it scared the shit out of me. Pikey-lookalike inbred people know how to get PROPERLY FUCKED UP.

hirsty: That essentially replicates my experience there. The whole gig had an overwhelming feeling of "The organisers are here to exploit you for all your money and do not care for your wellbeing". Someone died the year I was there.

The main problem I had was the lack of availability of water. There were many numerous food vans selling the usual food - burgers, kebabs, ice cream, chips, whatever. These kind of places would usually sell the associated beverages, including water.

The verbatim quote I got from many vendors at the festival was "Sorry, we've been told we're not allowed to sell water. You'll have to go to the main bars instead". The queues there were huge, and the water was expensive, and sold in cups rather than sealable, re-usable bottles. Half way through the second day, the conscience of some of the vendors came into play and they started selling bottled water on the sly.

Essentially, don't waste your time or money. It is a horrendously shit commercial festival that exists to rip people off and cares nothing for their safety.

re: GG

Agreed they are a bunch of rip-off merchants, security is ridiculous on the doors but in all fairness if you are into your EDM (emphasis on the D) I think it's got by far the best line up.
