Festival Season

Has anyone here made costumes for festivals? My friends and I have an idea for camp bisco and I want to know if anyone here has done anything and what they're experience has been like being part of the entertainment.

AUM grows closer.. I'm so excited.

I ought to start wearing costumes all the time. It would be fun. I'd like to dress up like Space Ghost and ride around on a Segway passing out beer.

Anyone ever been to the Gathering of the Vibes festival?
yea man, i know a bunch of people going to that shit, including myself if everything goes as planned.

If I make it to bisco, I'll bring my hazmat suit and geiger counter.

Hallucinogen and Shpongle are headlining a weekend party at the same place as AUM in eureka springs, AR on aug 17-18. presale tix are $40

^Strange, they are supposed to be at camp bisco which runs through the 16-18 of aug. Maybe they will both play on the 16th?

AUM was fucking awesome.

Too bad the Hell's Angels and Banditos were in the nearest town (AUM was actually out in the middle of nowhere).. this created some.... tension with law enforcement. State troopers flew out and circled (very low) our hippie camp a number of times on 3 occasions with an armed helicopter. It looked like they were going to land in the clearing. Kinda creepy. Several people got stabbed in a freakin' 2.4K person hippie village... off near quilt and candy shops. WTF.

Also creepy to see Pizza Hut with a "WELCOME HELLS ANGELS!" message on their sign that usually has some sale/deal posted. I wish I had a pic of that.

They had some of the hotels totally rented out, with hell's angels security standing at the entrances. Across the street from each entrance like this were 4 state trooper cars, shotguns ready and all... almost like a stand off.

Thank god I spent most of my time in the woods with a load of chill (and super nice!) people from all over the country. This would have been a crap time to go stay in a bed & breakfast or hike around town.

AUM sounded fucking amazing... Too bad I cant go.

Is anyone else attending Future: Perfect? Sounds amazing

I would kind of like to, but really Primordial Ooze/Kaiser Soze (same guy(s), good stuff) is the only artist I'd care much about seeing, which makes it a bit a far trip for me (AR). It sounds neat, though doubt I can justify it unless the lineup got switched up a bit.

Unless someone wants to give me lots of money.

Theres a lot of local DJ's I love seeing and wont mind seeing again but yeah I agree theres no one too special playing. I know people from MN that made the trip up to AUM though, said it was insanely amazing haha.

Thats always the thing, isn't it?

I am not familiar with many of the smaller regional DJs, let alone ones that tend to just play certain towns or venues. I bet I miss a lot of bangin' events due to not going out of fear the whole thing will be lacking somehow.

Then I think about the DJs around here, and damn, some are really, really good... but just do it for fun and are going to school full time + work full time, or whatever else.

Everyone who was at Vibes last year, how was the venue? I'll be at bisco and I heard that the search up front was really thorough.

Also, anyone who's made costumes for festivals, did you run into problems going to the music dressed up? Or did they not really care?

Yeah I see what your saying, IMO Future Perfefct has an amazing lineup with lots of talent and you will have everything from psytrance to hardstyle to techno to Drum N Bass... whatever you want it's all good stuff :). The Psytrance stage is gonna be fucking insane seriously I cant wait woooo.

Apparently when the Disco Biscuits play Bonnaroo they have a masquerade ball thingie where everyone gets dressed up in costume for their set. Since they didn't play Roo this year, there was no widespread dressing up, but I do remember seeing a couple folks in costume before the Flaming Lips and it didn't seem to be a problem. I was thinking about bringing a costume myself to Bisco this year.

Don't know what the search is going to be like this year though. I've never been, but like you have heard it's a bit rough. However, the country club they are holding it at is actually a biker country club?? My dad has a good friend that's into Harley's and owns a Harley shop so he is going to ask him if he has any idea what it's going to be like this year.

One rumor I heard was that the Hells Angels were going to be running security but I doubt that's true. Check out http://www.harleyrendezvous.com/

They have a an open letter to Camp Bisco fans and a map etc. Actually sounds pretty reasonable if you ask me. (Read their rules of the land too)

There are a lot of bugs. They will bite the shit out of you. And bring something to fend off the sun during the day (90s, high humidity). Also the ground is rocky as a mother f'... bring a pad or something for under your sleeping bag if you can (or bring a hammock).
