I was prescribed fent 25/mcg. Its not quite working that well. I was curious as to if applying a little heat or chewing a piece of a patch or applying 2 or 1/2 of one is the safest method to get more relief. I dont have any BT meds and cant see my doctor for a bit. just out of the three which is the safest method. I have one patch that wont stick anymore not sure what to do with it, why I askes about the chewing bit.

Absolutely DO NOT use the fentanyl in any way other than directed, and DO NOT tamper with the patch at all. Fentanyl preparations such as the transdermal patches contain enormous amounts of the drug, which is a very potent opioid, and using it improperly could lead to an early death via overdose. I am not saying this because I am anti-drug use, but because using fentanyl in the ways you have mentioned often has lethal result. It may not seem strong at all now as you are wearing the patch, and perhaps you require a higher dose or a change to another opioid analgesic for pain management, but fentanyl is still VERY dangerous to fuck with, and anyone will attest to this fact. Fentanyl often seems less than what it is, and frankly I am not a fan of its use, in general, for pain management when there are a number of other opioids that can be used. When I received IV fentanyl in the ER a number of times, I noticed a definite lack of euphoria for its strength, and it is often reported to be too sedating with too many side-effects even for the opiate-tolerant pain patients and recreational users. Another warning - DO NOT TAMPER WITH OR MISUSE FENTANYL PREPARATIONS IN ANY WAY. It is far too dangerous. For pain, try adding an OTC NSAID like naproxen or ibuprofen - they help more than they are given credit for.

thank you for your concern first poster. I was taking roughly 120 mg of hydro before put on this. I feel no euphoria or buzz I feel straight as normal but do have some pain relief. I would like to get a little buzz off of it. So I think ill start small of the patch that wont stick maybe a quarter and suck on it until I feel something. So would you say that chewing little and working up until desired effect(im cautious) is safer than heating with a heating pad?

I am posting again to warn you not to do this. It is a matter of a potentially fatal overdose, even for opiate-tolerant individuals it is very dangerous, and 120 mg hydrocodone a day is not a terribly large amount compared to some individuals' daily consumption of opioids. Seriously, it is more dangerous than you think. By the time you do feel anything, as mentioned by the other poster, you could already be in for an overdose, potentially fatal.

DO NOT TAMPER WITH YOUR FENTANYL TRANSDERMAL SYSTEM IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. DO NOT CHEW, DO NOT HEAT, DO NOT TAMPER.

Call your doctor and tell him you're not getting adequate pain relief. Why the fuck would you risk your life when you can easily get this fixed the correct way???

Posts giving potentially lethal advice to a legitimate chronic pain patient who has NO reason whatsoever to abuse his own medication for relief, have been UA'd.

Eh sorry about all that Tricomb, fact is I found this website on a google search "best way to use fentanyl patch" and found thread loaded with all kinds of ways to do it. I have read the forum guidelines, however I thought that since there where threads, some with 50+ posts about heating and tampering with fent that it would be alright. I really do apologize. The other thing is I have seen people with the justification of giving advice to people becuase they would abuse it anyway, might as well know the safest (not saying it is safe period, but there is a spectrum to everything) way to do it, I.E. low doses, moving up ect. I have seen this posted many time with potentially lethal drugs, that is why I didn't think it would be a problem. Again, I am sorry.
Also, I would have made this a P.M. but I can only send a message every 180 minutes. Gar.

Wow thanks for looking outfellas,Guess its much worse then one would think. Anyways Im wearing as directed and havent chewed anything. I know it would blow my tolerance and I would run out sooner orpossibly die. Just curious and temptedwas all

If you're having any problems with your pain management, it is totally within your right to take care of yourself and follow procedure and all laws (most of these laws are here to protect you from such abuse) and your doctor will work out a treatment plan that works better for you.

Fentanyl, although a beastly analgesic, was such a pain in the ass for me. The patches were too flimsy even with extra precautions taken, the amount released from the gel-reservoir kinds were extremely dangerous, I remember one time I was outside in the sun for too long with my shirt off and thought I was getting heat stroke which would have been totally shocking, but as the feeling got stronger I was positive that the sun allowed way too much fent out. Even the new matrix patches, (of which I prefer Mylan) still have similar issues, and the adhesive is horrible getting clogged by your dead skin cells interrupting the transdermal delivery system.

I hope that for pain management, I never get to the point where I require fentanyl, I'd much rather take high doses of morphine.

In terms of abuse, fentanyl should not ever be tampered with at all, let alone used in ways other than as directed by your prescribing physician.
