What's usually called Lovecraftian Horror.
Or Sci-Fi Horror, Psychological Horror, or Supernatural Horror (if it's done with quality detail work, that is), that kind of stuff.
Basically, I like when things are borderline nightmare fuel traumatizing in terms of film.
I can't do the slasher stuff anymore. I mean back in the 80s it was all special effects and makeup and I sort of grew up on that, there's an art to it, and that was actually the kind of stuff that got me into horror, I was big into Grindouse and Hammer stuff back then. These days there's too much CGI and it just feels weird.
I love me some CGI in a Sci-FI though, if it's of good quality that is. So something in the style of Interstellar, that I'm fine with.
I just don't like it when it's CGI gore. That kinda kills it for me, but again, if it's done artistically and well, than I'm okay with it.
Or comically. I will accept horror comedy CGI, because it's comedy, it's not meant to be taken seriously.
Sharks on the Moon being a good example or also Aquarium of the Dead. Both were terrible, but funny because they were terrible.
