Used to love all those English gangster films (Rise of The Footsoldier, The Business, Essex Boys etc) - still do to a degree but horror rules the roost here haha.

best one is good fellas imo. casino also great. once upon a time in america, epic. the goodfather goes without saying. but the last mob movie by martin scorsese wasnt that great also over 3 hours but not too good.

Not really a genre, but movies like Lost Highway, Funny Games and Eyes Wide Shut. Mysterious and creepy films that are unsettling and have some philosophical depth to them.

I just finished watching the series: Boardwalk Empire only recently because I hadn’t known it was directed by Martin Scorsese. I thought it was a good gangster/mafia series.

boardwalk empire was really good, last big thing from hbo i think. but the sopranos is even better. check it if you havent already seen.

I was especially fascinated by the philosophical dialogue between Peter and Paul towards the end of Funny Games. It gave such seemingly shallow characters a deep structure.

Ulrich Seidl's movies are just nasty and gross. I wouldn't even compare him to Haneke.

Sci-fi for sure! & then Horror...Not gory, but SPOOKY... stuff like the conjuring, exorcist, the ring, insideous, sinister, prometheus, the thing, Us...etc there was a series on netflix that was quite good, a bit of a slow burn, about an island & the preacher was a vampire & he brought over the "creature" that Turned him. ;-)

I love all genres! Depending on my mood slow moving period dramas are my favourite.

Psychological mind bending thrillers.
Horror's not gory more spooky.
Sci-Fi at times as long the CGI is not so obvious.
And comedies! Especially around Christmas

If I can't find one of those; I'll always go with a good pysch. thriller
