I don't think all of those count as drug based movies, myself. True Romance? That's not really a drug based movie, more of a crime/drama movie.

I voted Trainspotting. I love a lot of the movies on that list but Trainspotting never gets old for me. It gives me the full range of emotions from laughter to complete horror and sadness. Also the end always makes me really happy!

The Bad Lieutenent wasn't the best film but Harvey Kietel sure did a lot of drugs.

Festival express is a good music movie with some great footage of the party on the train.

Through a Blue Lens is a good documentry shot by the cops on Vancouvers skid row.

Fear and Loathing. Half Baked, How High, Belly and Paid In Full are definitely some of my favorite movies, though. Spun and Blow I can't really watch any more. Especially Blow, that shit takes too much out of me. Great movie, though. Scarface is a classic movie, but being set in Miami and everybody getting ski'd up and shooting people isn't all that much of an escape for me. More like watching the evening news. Cocaine Cowboys is WAY better (although, its technically a documentary.) Requiem I only saw once, and the impression I got was that its gonna be a while before I can watch it again. Go I will probably never be able to watch again. One movie that is not on this list, but definitely should be, is A Midnight Summer's Rave. Again, not sure if I could handle it again just yet, but really good movie from what I can remember.

There's also 'Bully' with Brad Renfro(sp?). True story about these kids in Hollywood Florida, who take a bunch of acid and ride off to the beach and end up killing an abusive friend of theirs, then bad trip time.

This movie actually has much less to do with drugs than it does with sex, domestic violence and murder. Props for mentioning it, though. A couple good friends of mind are actually in this movie (the hitman's brother, Marty's brother and "boy on beach.") A lot of this movie was actually filmed in the neighborhood I grew up in. By the way, this movie was made by Larry Clark, the same guy who made "Kids." Also, I'm pretty sure the real kids portrayed in this movie (Bully) were from Weston, FL, although, at that time it may still have been Hollywood.

I can't say i've watched too many, but if pushed, I'd say Cheech And Chong's Nice Dreams purely because it depicts a really cool time in my life.

Altered States with William Hurt was another one that had mystique when I was a kid.

Drugstore Cowboy
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Tales of Ordinary Madness
Panic in Needle Park
Born to Win

I don't really think a movie is a drug movie unless the protagonist has a habit. Stories about vice cops and non-addicted dealers aren't what I consider pure drug movies.

umm... SAY NOPE TO DOPE

pineapple express is totally retarded

it's a funny movie, but it's not a "drug movie"... check out PINEAPPLE, a film with a similar title, that actually has to do with the reality and horrors of drug and sex addiction. all in the name of fun of course! =D

ok.. Bad Lieutenant is a great movie. but WHY IN THE HELLFUCK did you mention Festival Express? thats not a drug based movie, it's a fucking historical masterpiece capturing amazing performances of revolutionary bands, riding a train thru Canada, playing free shows from time to time. check yourself man, that kinda pissed me off. .

Panic man, try some down and read_ Music movie_ they sure as shit didn't play any free shows and they drank the train dry by the time they got to Sask and stopped at the liquor store and bought that out and proceeded to drink all that on the way to Calgary including a 5 liter of whiskey spiked with acid, good drunken drugged party scenes of your favorite musicians. Some here might find it a good look.

The list holds a ton of my favorite movies. But, if I was forced at gunpoint to name my absolute #1 favorite movie, it would be Trainspotting.
