I didnt see "Altered States" on that list so I just voted " other"

I do like Fear and Loathing a lot, I used to hate it, but I grew to like it, but not because of the drugs.

Watching a lot of old Hunter S Thompsons interviews, you can see he didnt feel very comfortable with it being pigeonholed. and with his own persona getting mixed up with Dukes. He always likes to think of it as a book/movie about the horrible state the country was in in the early 70's , certainly not some sort of stoner bible.

american gangster
pineapple express
blow

Totally with you on LOVING Blow. <3 - one of my favourite all time movies.

And I only recently saw Pineapple Express with my brother and thought I wouldn't like it but it was pure genius. =D Does anyone know what the theme song is? The one that goes 'All I wanna do is....' etc?

So many good ones up there.

For sheer fun factor, I'd pick Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas. I can't believe Friday's not up there and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is? What the hell?

For silliest, I'd go with Half Baked. I could watch that movie a million times and never tire of it.

True Romance, to me, has the best story, characters and dialogue.

Blow is the best realistic drug depiction, although I find it too depressing to watch more than once every year or so.

The Salton Sea is one of the most underrated movies on the list. That movie was brilliant. Every time you think you finally saw the big picture, it would pull back and reveal a little more. Vincent D'onofrio was a genius in that movie. "I'm a dog! Arf!" Love it.

The Basketball Diaries
Requiem for a Dream
Fear and Loathing (it drags when you are sober, but when you are high on basically anything it is the shit)
Trainspotting
Blow

In that order, I've pretty much seen the rest of the films listed but these were my favorites

I think The Salton Sea sucked, it started out really good, but the second half was just too far out and at parts just plain stupid

How is Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels a drug movie? It has drugs in it but they are hardly the center of the film.

I might have missed it but I didn't see anyone mention a Scanner Darkly.
Fear and Loathing is one I can watch over and over.
I agree Blow is one of the most realistic but depressing.
There are a ton of other greats but most have been mentioned and I dont want to be super redundant

A very good one is Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (film, USA title is: We Children from Bahnhof Zoo)
the film portrays the drug scene in Berlin in the 1970s, following tape recordings of Christiane F.

Christiane F. (born Christiane Vera Felscherinow on May 20, 1962) is a former heroin addict famous for her contribution to the autobiographical book Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, and the film based on the book, which describes her struggle with various forms of drug addiction during her teens.

Synopsis from Wikipedia:
Fourteen-year-old Christiane lives with her mother and little sister in a small apartment in a typical multi-storey concrete apartment building in a dull neighbourhood in the outskirts of West Berlin. She's bored and lacks things to do and is sick and tired of living there. She hears of Sound, a new disco in the city center, called the most modern discotheque in Europe. Although she's legally too young to go to the disco, she dresses up in high heels and make-up and asks a friend from school to take her. At the disco she meets Detlef, who is a little older. He is in a clique where everybody is experimenting with various drugs. At first she takes pills and trips, but gradually she becomes drawn deeper into the drugs, eventually ending up as a heroin-addict and prostitute.

Has anyone seen this movie? It is a very sad story about children and drug addiction, and it is certainly worth mentioning in this thread IMO. :)

Peace o/
