What is your favorite beer when you are REALLY hard up for cash?
Basically, best taste for your dollar (or lack there of).

This is mostly for American drinkers, because I don't know shit about cheap beer from other countries (and the cheap beer from other countries is better than our "quality" shit anyway). We are talking strictly good old US of A swill.
:)

I'm going with Pabst Blue Ribbon. Usually about 5.99 + tax for a 12 pack, and it actually tastes like beer (somewhat).

hrm. sad to say i've never had pabst :-( dunno why.

i like a 6 pack of lonestar tollboys for somethin like $4.09. the equivalant of 8 beers of pretty good beer (plus it's texas. talk down on lone star and you got a lot of angry people around. ;) ) and you get the added bonus of carryin around a taller container.

one of those does the job for me for the night. i really don't need to drink more than that or bad things happen.

if you can find a 6 pack of mickeys hand grenades (12oz bottle) it's your lucky fucking day. drinking those are fun just cuz of the shape of the bottle and the fact that mickeys is def. the best malt liquor around

OE and natttty ice

I subsisted on natty ice and light for 4 years of college but I don't think anyone actually LIKES that shit. You just sort of adjust to the fact that you are drinking antifreeze.

Shit, is that a natty ice tallboy! I have never seen that rare breed. I did see a natty light bottle once, and that was quite a treasure. =D

another honorable mention: keystone light..$13.99 for a 30 pack (or thereabouts)

Milwaukees Best is around $10 for a 30. But as with the natty, you kind of have to adjust to it. One time we ran out of bud light and had to switch to the beast. I could barely even swallow it, there was such a big difference, and its not like bud light is high quality or anything. You shouldn't need to stoop that low to get Beast unless you're seriously digging the change out of your couch for beer money.

Seconding Natty Ice cause it's fun to say and there's slightly more booze in it than regular beer.

Natty Ice. I dont' really mind it. I don't enjoy it like i enjoy decent/good beer, but it's not bad after the 1st sip. Natty Light is also as good, but when i need $$ i'll take the extra 2% or whatever.

Beast changed their can, like they aren't still marketing the shit to broke-ass, college, degenerate binge drinkers. Hilarious. Looks like fucking RC Cola.

Yeah natty ice has a slightly higher alcohol percentage, and the liquor store near me sells 12 packs for $5.99 and 30s for $9.99 or something like that. College has made me realize that cheap beer isn't too bad. Though if you pay only a few more bucks you can get something of semi-decent quality like Miller High Life.

I think you can actually power your car with this shit.

And where can I get one of those helmets?

Only in college is Miller High Life "semi-decent." People have Bud Light and it's like they have a bucket of Cristal on ice.

And steel reserve is intense shit. What is it like 8.0%?

yeah, 8.1%. Their website is funny shit. There are testimonials and they make it sound like Steel Reserve is a fine wine.
Here's a typical response to one of their "fan" latters: "Hey Darren - Steel has always been 8.1% alcohol by volume in California. Glad you enjoy the brew. It is, however, a high gravity lager, not a malt - the difference is in the way its brewed. Glad you enjoy the tall cans. Cheers!"

steel!

Miller High Life is damn cheap and it's not absolutely terrible unless you drink it for more than a couple of days in a row.

EDIT: I forgot aboot Mickeys or OE...definitely my drink of choice on a budget or sometimes not on one.

Oh man, not me, Pabst is one of the sickest beers I've ever had.
I really don't see the point in buying budget beer after high school, you only need to pay a few dollars extra to have something that tastes good and gets you just as drunk. But back in the day what me and my friends would buy to get hammered of our asses was a good ol Big 10

10% malt beer, tastes like paint thinner but gets ya sloshed and only costs a few bucks.
