Extreme Metal (Black, Death, Doom)

i wouldn't exactly categorize acid bath as extreme metal. there are quite a few songs on when the kite string pops that fit the bill, like dr. seuss is dead, but all in all i wouldn't categorize acid bath as 'extreme' metal.
when i was in my teenage years i listened to a lot of emperor and darkthrone and all those crazy scandinavian bands. i couldn't stand stuff like cannibal corpse back then i still can't.
the first two strapping young lad albums are pretty awesome if you want something extreme. but it doesn't get funnier than agoraphobic nosebleed.
i also really like pig destroyer.

edit: the last death album, the sound of perserverance, is really fucking good.
 
^ yeah, true.
sound of perseverance ís one of the most brilliant metal albums i ever heard. my god, that guy could really play the guitar.
i bought scream bloody gore when i was eight, and it's still one of the defining metal albums for me.
RIP chuck schuldiner.

Pig Destroyer is also fantastic. From what little I've gleaned from this thread, you have excellent taste in music.

I definitely prefer grindcore/goregrind when it comes to metal...But i dabble in everything...Here are 2 of my favorite groups: (only limited to post 2 videos at a time?!...gay)
