Extreme Metal (Black, Death, Doom)

Really digging Panopticon's Collapse LP -- "anarcho-pagan" black metal with folk and crust influences.

I listened to a lot of metal when I was a teenager. I've stopped since then. Honestly I blame cannabis and LSD. Metal is just too fast and hard for being stoned. I still like to listen to some Cannibal Corpse when I work out though.
Heard Cannabis Corpse? You might dig them, even if just for the weed novelty. Good band though.

I've been listening to a bunch of doom metal recently. Anyone into Thou? They've got a page with some mp3s up and that here: http://noladiy.org/thou.html

Have to admit I have an embarassing love of this genre- Carcass were great, Hecate Enthroned were epic, and my all time faves were Samael!

i use to listen to black metal along time ago, i think my favorite album was emperor's "in the nightside eclipse" , ive kinda started listening to it again but not as much as i use to. I did go see mayhem in concert last year though

Looks like some of you listen to some GOOD stuff... if you know what i mean. Ive gotta say my favorite genre after listning to metal has to be doom, followed closely by death. But i really listen to everything and try to catch all the shows that i can.

Heres a few of my favorite bands,

Motorhead
Black Sabbath
Bathory
Darkthrone
Pest
Black Funeral
Grand Belials Key
Autopsy
Nunslaughter
Impetigo
Acid Witch
Eyehategod
Pentagram
Saint Vitus
Trouble
Sleep
Mercyful Fate
Pagan Altar
Angelwitch
The Mentors
and the such

Does anyone attend MDF in the states? There is no way i can afford to travel to europe, so ive been going to MDF, and let me tell you its a pretty damn good time. Autopsy, DRI, Pentagram, Deceased, and so many bands killed last year.

^^ I wish I could go to MDF, but it's just too far away. Here in Seattle, we used to have death metal fests, but not anymore :( I like the doom bands you mentioned as well - I just saw Saint Vitus live a couple of months ago, and Trouble last year, but I missed Sleep, YOB, Melvins, and Pentagram because I'm lame

Anyways, I love thrash, grindcore, black, and death metal

Dying Fetus
Devourment (have a maggot tattoo0
Destruction (have a tattoo of the skull from Infernal Overkill)
Suffocation
Pig Destroyer
Akercocke
Anaal Nathrakh

I own about 1,250 CDs and go to a couple of shows a month

My Dying Bride, Shape of Despair, Reverend Bizarre, Until Death Overtakes Me, Tristania, Esoteric, Skepticism, Black Sabbath, Evoken, Khanate, November's Doom, Paradise Lost, Torture Wheel, Uncertainty Principal, Zaraza, Wall of Sleep, While Heaven Wept, Dissection

Some of these I haven't listened to for at least a year. I need to download some again.

I love extreme metal. Especially technical bass driven bands. Atheist is my favorite band and my biggest influence on the bass guitar (hence my username).

Atheist
Dying Fetus
Pig Destroyer
Agoraphobic Nosebleed
Carcass
Deicide
Obituary
Pantera
Mucopus
Revocation/Cryptic Warning
Municipal Waste
Deadwater Drowning
Evile

My state has come out with a lot of great metal bands throughout the years. The scene here is thriving with a lot of great death metal, thrash, and grindcore bands. Revocation, Converge, The Red Chord (not so much their new stuff, but the old shit is incredible), Sexcrement, Scaphism, Untombed, Shadows Fall, Dysentery, Fuck Everyone, Boarcorpse, Composted, Upon Crimson Wings...There's so much good shit in this scene. Hopefully my band will make it on this year's Metalfest in Worcester so we can join the ranks of some of these incredible bands that have been signed and have gone on world tours
